The Weather Underground was a domestic terrorist organization during the 1970s. The man in the above photo on the left was a member of that organization. David Gilbert took part in the armed robbery of a Brink’s armored truck in October 1981. He was the getaway driver, but since one of the Brink’s guards died and a subsequent shootout with police resulted in two police officers being killed, he was sentenced to 75 years to life under the New York felony murder law for three counts of second-degree murder and four counts of armed robbery.<\/p>\n

In addition to The Weather Underground, Gilbert was affiliated with the May 19th Communist Organization and the Black Liberation Army. The May 19th group was responsible for many domestic terrorist acts, including the bombing of the US Senate in 1983. They also bombed several federal facilities including military bases. They were also the ones who freed Assata Shakur, the fugitive who was imprisoned for killing a New Jersey state trooper, who has been hiding in Cuba since. The Black Liberation Army was another domestic terror organization and part of the Black supremacy movement.<\/p>\n

Gilbert is the father of the far, far left San Francisco district attorney Chesa Boudin. Boudin was raised by Bill Ayers and his wife (who had together led the terrorist Weather Underground), spent some time working as a personal translator for communist dictator Nicholas Maduro, and then got elected to office on a policy of not prosecuting any crime.<\/p>\n

The Weather Underground and these other enemies of the American people have enjoyed significant sympathy from the Democratic Party of late. It should surprise nobody that former Governor of New York Andrew Cuomo (D) is among their friends. Before departing office yesterday Cuomo gave clemency to Gilbert. While Cuomo forgot to take his dog with him<\/a>\u00a0(seriously, he left his dog behind), he doesn’t forget to help out a cop killing terrorist.<\/p>\n

Just hours before leaving office, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo granted clemency to five men, including the commutation of the 75-years-to-life sentence of David Gilbert, a former member of the radical Weather Underground who in 1981 took part in the robbery of a Brink’s armored truck in Rockland County that left two Nyack police officers and a security guard dead.<\/p>\n

Cuomo’s action will allow Gilbert to make his case to the parole board. The 76-year-old has been incarcerated for four decades after being convicted of felony murder and robbery. He is currently confined at Shawangunk Correctional Facility, a maximum-security prison in Ulster County, 80 miles south of Albany.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
