Seattle police fatally shoot man while serving a warrant<\/strong><\/p>\n

SEATTLE (AP) \u2014 Seattle police officers shot and killed a 22-year-old man near White Center Thursday evening while serving a warrant in a homicide case.<\/p>\n

SWAT officers and members of the department\u2019s gun violence reduction unit arrived shortly before 6 p.m. to serve a warrant for a suspect in a Seattle homicide case from earlier this year, Seattle Assistant Police Chief Deanna Nolette said in a news conference.<\/p>\n

Nolette declined to share details about the homicide case, the Seattle Times reported.<\/p>\n

Officers used a PA system from outside the house to tell the suspect to surrender when a man came outside, allegedly armed with a handgun, Nolette said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe from the preliminary reports that he actually fired upon officers,\u201d she said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Man shot, killed during standoff with police at Ohio home<\/strong><\/p>\n

MIFFLIN, Ohio (AP) \u2014 A man involved in a standoff with police at his northern Ohio home was shot and killed by officers during a confrontation inside the residence.<\/p>\n

A police SWAT team had gone to the Mifflin home around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday to arrest Sean Rowe, 38. He was wanted on menacing and weapons charges stemming from a Fourth of July confrontation at the home.<\/p>\n

Richland County Sheriff J. Steve Sheldon told The Mansfield Journal News that authorities had urged Rowe to turn himself in, but he refused and his behavior had become more aggressive in recent weeks.<\/p>\n

After negotiating with Rowe for about three hours, the SWAT team entered the home while Rowe was outside on a balcony. where he was seen wielding two machetes and striking them against a banister. He went back inside the home with the machetes when he heard the SWAT team in the residence, and authorities said he was shot after several attempts were made to subdue him with non-lethal force.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
