Off-Duty USBP Agent Stops Knife-Wielding Suspect<\/h3>\n

SAN DIEGO\u2014An off-duty U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) agent apprehended a man on July 19 who was charging towards civilians with a large fixed-blade knife.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. when a USBP agent and his girlfriend left a restaurant in downtown San Diego. As he did so, he observed a man who was slashing a knife through the air and advancing toward bystanders.<\/p>\n

The agent quickly instructed everyone to clear the area and asked his girlfriend to notify 9-1-1. The agent then drew a personally owned firearm and identified himself as a law enforcement officer. Instructing the man to drop his knife, the man ignored the agent\u2019s request.<\/p>\n

Another off-duty law enforcement officer observed the situation and stepped in to assist the agent. With an agent and officer now present, the man complied with instructions, dropping his knife. The agent and officer detained the man until San Diego Police officers arrived and took custody.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Civilian’s fatal shooting of rampaging gunman ruled justified<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nFORT SMITH — A Fort Smith man who stopped a shooting rampage in May by killing the gunman won’t face criminal charges, prosecutors said.<\/p>\n

Sebastian County prosecutor Dan Shue announced his decision Wednesday in a letter to Police Chief Danny Baker. Shue said after reviewing the investigative reports surrounding the shooting, his office concluded Wallace West was justified under Arkansas law in the fatal shooting of Zachary Brian Arnold.<\/p>\n

West, 58, shot Arnold, 26, after Arnold killed Lois Hicks, 87, in her home at Three Corners Apartments at 3600 S. 74th St., according to police.<\/p>\n

“Mr. West acted lawfully when he shot Mr. Arnold and likely saved a number of lives in the process,” a Police Department news release states. “At last count, Mr. Arnold had fired 93 rounds from his semiautomatic rifle before Mr. West was able to stop him. There were no other fatalities or injuries, though a number of residents were home at the time of the assault.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

DFC Challinger and K9 Flash come to the rescue in Forsyth Co.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nFORSYTH County, Ga. (CBS46)– Some great news out of Forsyth County thanks to the help of a special duo who rescued someone in need lost outside in the blazing heat.
\nOn Wednesday, a Forsyth County Sheriff Officer, DFC Challinger, and K9 Flash found a senior citizen who wandered away from her home. A sheriff spokesperson tells us the lady is diagnosed with dementia.<\/p>\n

According to authorities, it only took a few minutes before DFC Challinger and K9 Flash got her home safely.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
