Prepare to get disgusted with academia again. This guy is Professor Asata Bair. According to his Twitter bio he’s “Professor of economics. Meditation teacher. YouTuber. Pronouns: he, him #Communist.” So it’s no surprise he’s a fan of the OG communist, murderous dictator Joseph Stalin. Stalin you’ll recall is such a great guy, his early reign is known as “The Great Terror.” He also called his soldiers who surrendered to the Germans rather than face death traitors. This includes his own son, who rotted in a German PW camp and died.<\/p>\n

A California professor was widely hounded on Twitter for praising the legacy of Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin, calling him “one of the great leaders” of the 20th century.<\/p>\n

Asatar Bair, a self-identified “communist,” is an economics professor at Riverside City College in Southern California.<\/p>\n

In multiple Twitter posts, Bair seemed to suggest that discussions on Stalin, who led the U.S.S.R. between 1924 and 1953, have been lacking in nuance.<\/p>\n

Bair said, contrary to what people say, he does not “idolize” Stalin, but merely holds a “fair and balanced view” of the man.<\/p>\n

“The man was neither savior nor saint, but he was, at once a very successful revolutionary, a great contributor to Marxist theory, and said to be a great listener and collaborator during discussions,” Bair said.<\/p>\n

He credited Stalin for recognizing the threat posed by Nazi Germany and having had the “tactical ability to successfully defeat the world\u2019s greatest invading army, combining with the strength to make tough decisions that have no easy answers.”<\/p>\n

Bair said people ought to read everything Stalin wrote before forming opinions about the man, whom he referred to as, “one of the great leaders of the 20th c[entury] though,” he wrote.<\/p>\n

The Twitter thread prompted a wave of mostly negative comments, with users evoking Stalin\u2019s policies that have been blamed for causing the deaths of millions of people.<\/p>\n

Fox News has reached out to both Bair and RCC seeking comment but did not hear back before publication.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Yes, Stalin shrewdly recognized the threat posed by Nazi Germany. Which is why he made a pack to invade and carve up Poland and the rest of Eastern Europe with them. Stalin’s astute observations of the threat posed by Germany were clear when Germany invaded and steamrolled over the surprised Soviets, who nearly lost Moscow itself. This guy clearly has no knowledge of World War II.<\/p>\n

What’s even better is that Professor Bair is also a Uyghur genocide denier and apologist. He even uses data to prove his point. This professor of economics uses data from the Chinese Communists to support his belief that the persecution of the Uyghur people isn’t happening. If you can’t trust a communist, then who can you trust?<\/p>\n
