AOC managed to beclown herself once again, this time accusing the Trump Administration cutting aid to Puerto Rico after the 2017 hurricane Maria.<\/p>\n
\u201cJust over a week ago, my abuela fell ill,\u201d Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) began. \u201cI went to Puerto Rico to see her- my 1st time in a year+ bc of COVID.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is her home,\u201d the congresswoman added, posting a picture of a dwelling with a damaged roof, little dresser, and no bedding. \u201cHurricane Mar\u00eda relief hasn\u2019t arrived. Trump blocked relief $ for PR. People are being forced to flee ancestral homes, & developers are taking them.\u201d<\/p>\n
The problem is a bit closer to home. <\/p>\n
People in a southern Puerto Rico city discovered a warehouse filled with water, cots and other unused emergency supplies sent as aid for the hurricane damage. Anger spread in the U.S. territory after a Facebook video of the event;<\/p>\n
Gov. Wanda V\u00e1zquez quickly fired the director of the island’s emergency management.<\/p>\n
Oops. Seems the aid had arrived and was promptly mishandled by the corrupt officials that run the island.<\/p>\n
Puerto Rico received hurricane relief funding but it hasn’t reached all the people who need help, an aunt of a New York congresswoman claims, according to a report<\/em><\/p>\n By Dom Calicchio<\/strong><\/p>\n If the grandmother of U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has suffered in Puerto Rico since Hurricane Maria in 2017, then Puerto Rican politicians are to blame, not former President Trump.<\/p>\n That\u2019s the assessment of an aunt of the New York Democrat, who was interviewed in Puerto Rico by Britain\u2019s Daily Mail.<\/p>\n Ocasio-Cortez made headlines earlier this month after posting photos from the Puerto Rico home of her 81-year-old grandmother, or “abuela,” Clotilde Rivera, and claiming that the residence remained in disrepair, nearly four years after the hurricane, in part because “Trump blocked relief $ for PR.”<\/p>\n But when a Daily Mail reporter visited Rivera\u2019s home this week, a woman there who claimed to be AOC\u2019s aunt said the congresswoman\u2019s story wasn\u2019t accurate. <\/p>\n The aunt noted that the Category 5 hurricane caused extensive damage to the island \u2013 but insisted Trump wasn\u2019t to blame for residents struggling to receive aid.<\/p>\n “It\u2019s a problem here in Puerto Rico with the administration and the distribution of help,” the aunt told the Daily Mail. “It is not a problem with Washington. We had the assistance and it didn\u2019t get to the people.”<\/p>\n After Ocasio-Cortez\u2019s June 2 posts on Twitter, conservative commentator Matt Walsh fired back at the congresswoman, saying it was “Shameful that you live in luxury while allowing your own grandmother to suffer in these squalid conditions.”<\/p>\n Walsh later raised more than $100,000 for Ocasio-Cortez\u2019s grandmother until the online campaign was ended \u2013 but the congresswoman\u2019s family declined to accept the assistance.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n The Go-Fund-Me for AOC’s grandmother was a brilliant move. <\/p>\n Fox News<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
