Bystanders rush to aid San Francisco officer attacked, put in ‘death grip’<\/strong><\/p>\n

(SAN FRANCISCO) — A bystander who rushed to help when an officer was attacked in San Francisco said the suspect “had a death grip on her.”<\/p>\n

The officer responded Friday evening to a report of a person making threats, and after making contact with the suspect, the suspect assaulted her, the San Francisco Police Department said.<\/p>\n

Michael Waldorf said he saw the Asian female officer pull up to the scene, walk over to the suspect and tell him to turn around.<\/p>\n

“He turned around put his hands behind his head,” Waldorf said, but then, “I saw him grab her, pull her to the ground.”<\/p>\n

“He had a death grip on her,” Waldorf told ABC News. “He was holding on very tightly to her, squeezing her, squeezing her head and pulling her hair.”<\/p>\n

Several bystanders rushed to the officer’s side, including Waldorf.<\/p>\n

“I saw that it was an emergency and she was in trouble,” he said. “I ran over and immediately tried to free her from his grip — hitting him in the head.”<\/p>\n

Waldorf said other officers quickly responded and he stepped aside.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Police: Neighbor shoots, kills woman\u2019s ex-boyfriend who was attempting to break into her apartment<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nOAKVILLE, Mo. \u2013 St. Louis County Police have released new information regarding an overnight fatal shooting at an Oakville apartment complex. However, people at the complex dispute the department\u2019s claims.<\/p>\n

According to Sgt. Benjamin Granda, a county police spokesman, the shooting happened just before 2:10 a.m. in the 2800 block of Blackforest Drive. Officers responded to a burglary in progress and found a 27-year-old man had been shot.<\/p>\n

Officers attempted to save the man\u2019s life but he later died at a local hospital.<\/p>\n

Granda said police learned the man, identified as Alex Mitchell, was trying to break into his ex-girlfriend\u2019s apartment when he was shot.<\/p>\n

The ex-girlfriend had screamed for help and a neighbor heard her. The neighbor armed himself and went out to confront Mitchell.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
