He also had roles in the military films\u00a0<em>The Thousand Plane Raid\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<em>Kelly&#8217;s Heroes.\u00a0<\/em>He also had successful roles on the classic TV shows <em>McHale&#8217;s Navy<\/em> and\u00a0<em>The Mary Tyler Moore Show.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Like many men of his generation, Macleod served his country. He was in the US Air Force from 1952 to 1954.<\/p>\n<p>According to his stepdaughter, Macleod died from his age and a period of recent ill health. She said, &#8220;He had one of the most amazing, fun blasts of a life of anybody I know. He enjoyed every minute of it.
