Poe sends in word that two men have been arrested and charged in connection with the slaying of two married Army physicians (pictured above). Both Doctor Edward McDaniel Jr, 55, and his wife Doctor Brenda McDaniel, 63, were colonels in the US Army Medical Corps, with Edward still on active duty. They were murdered in cold blood in their own front yard on Wednesday in Virginia. Motive has yet to be announced, but they think it was related to a burglary of the doctors’ home on Monday.<\/p>\n

Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the Wednesday shooting of a married couple, both of whom were military physicians.<\/p>\n

Edward McDaniel Jr., 55, and his wife, Brenda McDaniel, 63, of Springfield, Virginia, were shot to death at point-blank range in front of their home. Both held the rank of colonel and Edward was still active in the Army.<\/p>\n

Deangelo Strand, 19, of Fort Washington, Maryland, and Ronnie Marshall, 20, were arrested Thursday on charges of second-degree murder and use of firearms in the commission of a felony, according to WTOP-TV.<\/p>\n

Earlier Thursday, police had publicly identified Marshall as being wanted in connection with the killings and launched a manhunt for him.<\/p>\n

Police said that the men were co-workers of a relative of the victims.<\/p>\n

\u201cTwo distinguished military veterans were gunned down in their front yard,\u201d Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis said Wednesday, according to Fox News.<\/p>\n

Davis said the couple \u201cserved our community for many, many years. And they were shot and killed in cold blood in their own front yard.\u201d<\/p>\n

Davis called the shooting a \u201ctragic, brutal, vicious double-murder,\u201d according to WJLA-TV. \u201cThis was not a random act of violence.\u201d<\/p>\n

The police chief said he believed the couple\u2019s son was in the home while his parents were killed.<\/p>\n

Fairfax County Police were at the same house for many hours on Monday to investigate a burglary report and a dispute.<\/p>\n

Authorities believe the murders were connected to the Monday incident.<\/p>\n

Major Ed O\u2019Carroll, the county\u2019s major crimes unit commander, told Fox News police received a tip after having announced the type of car they were seeking in connection with the killings. The tip led to one arrest.<\/p>\n

\u201cThanks to the community, we got our offenders,\u201d O\u2019Carroll said. He noted that U.S. Marshals provided great assistance in the arrests.<\/p>\n
