I wouldn\u2019t call myself a hero\u2019: Gas station customer stops armed robbery<\/strong><\/p>\n

COLFAX, Iowa (KCCI) \u2013 A convenience store robbery outside Des Moines ended peacefully thanks to a customer who distracted and disarmed the suspect.<\/p>\n

Brice Gathercole never imagined a quick trip to a Casey\u2019s convenience store Tuesday would turn into him interrupting a robbery.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just pulled up. I was walking in to get a bag of ice,\u201d Gathercole said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI came up to the counter, and there\u2019s this gentleman standing behind the counter with a gun stuffing his pockets full of cigarettes.\u201d<\/p>\n

The store\u2019s three clerks were hiding in a closet office, on the phone with police.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just started talking to him, you know, trying to keep everything nice and calm and cool, you know, asking if he needed any help or if he needed a ride somewhere. Anything to get him kind of calm and relaxed,\u201d Gathercole said.<\/p>\n

While that conversation was going on inside, Colfax Police Department officers and Jasper County Sheriff\u2019s deputies were swarming the store outside.<\/p>\n

\u201cI tell him, I say, \u2018You know, I\u2019m trying to help you here,\u2019\u201d Gathercole said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

GREENVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) \u2014 The Greene County Sheriff\u2019s Office on Tuesday arrested Brandon Goff, 23, and a 17-year-old male from the Greenville area after receiving a report of a burglary in progress on State Route 81 in the Town of Greenville.<\/p>\n

Police say after arriving on scene, they found Goff inside where he was quickly taken into custody without issue. As officers continued to clear the home, they found the 17-year-old who reportedly tried to hide in a crawl space off of the basement.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
