Labor Union’s Endorsement for Biden Comes Back to Bite Them<\/h3>\n

I have no sympathy. You voted for this, guys. This is the country you wanted. You wanted Joe Biden to overhaul the economic agenda. No more mean tweets, but now there\u2019s rising inflation, anemic jobs growth, a border crisis, and a war brewing in the Middle East. Russia has become aggressive again, and China is getting more handsy with Taiwan. But there are no more mean tweets. For those in the steel industry, they\u2019re pleading with Biden to keep the tariffs established under Donald Trump intact (via The Hill):<\/p>\n

Seven major groups representing steel producers and workers are urging President Biden to keep tariffs on foreign steel that former President Trump enacted intact.<\/p>\n

“The tariffs were necessitated by repeated surges in steel imports driven by global steel overcapacity that threatened our industry and the nearly two million jobs it supports,” the groups, which include the United Steelworkers, Steel Manufacturing Association and American Iron and Steel Institute, among others, wrote in a joint letter to Biden.<\/p>\n

“The tariffs have been a success, allowing our industry to restart idled mills, rehire laid-off workers and invest in the future,” they added.<\/p>\n

Trump imposed tariffs of 25 percent on steel and 10 percent on aluminum in 2018 as part of his aggressive trade agenda, setting off a trade war with many close U.S. allies, who imposed their own counter-tariffs on U.S. goods.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Again, you guys wanted a Trump-free America, which included consumer and small business confidence reaching its highest levels in years, the lowest unemployment levels in a half-century across the board, 3+ million new jobs, bonuses, and the tax cuts that largely benefitted the middle class. They\u2019re so good that even Biden is looking to make them permanent. He\u2019s also keeping the SALT caps under Trump. Why? Well, because nixing it would be a huge giveaway to the wealthy in blue states. A lot of Americans didn\u2019t like Trump\u2019s personality, but they liked his policies. They opted to boot him over the former and sacrificed economic vibrancy in the process. This is your guy, fellas. Deal with the consequences.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Clueless man tries to sell live WWII Nazi bomb on eBay<\/h3>\n

That\u2019s not how you blow up the internet.<\/p>\n

Residents of Swaythling, UK, were forced to evacuate their homes Tuesday over reports of a weapons enthusiast selling a live World War II-era explosive on eBay.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were made aware of the bomb after it was reported as being advertised for sale on eBay,\u201d a spokesman for the Hampshire police, who had responded to the nail-biting scene, told the Daily Mail.<\/p>\n

The 80-year-old incendiary device was reportedly being sold for around $20 by history buff Mark Williams. He described it on the auction site as a \u201cWWII German incendiary bomb \u2013 genuine, authentic Southampton Blitz.\u201d<\/p>\n

Williams had reportedly discovered the footlong weapon \u2014 which the Nazi Luftwaffe used to drop on Southhampton throughout WWII \u2014 while scouring the grass flats of the town with a metal detector.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe said he found the device buried about 6 inches underground, dug it up and took it into his flat,\u201d said a neighbor, who had observed Williams in action. He had reportedly shown the combustible new trinket to his neighbors before taking it to his apartment and hawking it online.<\/p>\n

Thankfully, the bombastic listing caught the eye of Ralf Sherwin, a security consultant and lifelong collector of war memorabilia, who knew \u201chow dangerous these things are,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The Dorset native immediately messaged Williams \u2014 who goes by \u201cStick4186\u201d on eBay \u2014 warning him, \u201cMate, do you realise that\u2019s not de-activated \u2014 it\u2019s live!\u201d<\/p>\n

When the nostalgic munitions monger asked how he knew, Sherwin explained that \u201cyou could see the iron oxide seeping out of the air holes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the nose there\u2019s a detonator, and once that dries out, it will go off, and I told him he wouldn\u2019t be able to put it out,\u201d the weapons expert cautioned.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, Sherwin\u2019s warning fell on deaf ears as \u201cthe idiot completely ignored me and carried on selling it,\u201d he claimed.<\/p>\n

After not receiving a reply for a half-hour, the Samaritan alerted the police, who promptly raided the house and arrested Williams. They cordoned off the area and evacuated residents, so the bomb squad could take the 2-pound device away and dispose of it in a controlled explosion.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe worked closely with Hampshire Police to quickly identify and locate this seller, aiding the successful and safe disposal of the item,\u201d an eBay spokesperson told the Daily Mail. They also made sure to remind the public that \u201cdangerous weapons such as unexploded bombs are not allowed to be listed on eBay.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite potentially causing a retroactive boom, Williams has \u201cbeen released and no further action will be taken against him,\u201d according to the Hampshire police.<\/p>\n

Sherwin, for one, is relieved that he was able to alert authorities to the bomb\u2019s presence.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d never have forgiven myself if I\u2019d done nothing and then read about a family being wiped out in a house fire,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t the first time old-school ordnance has almost resulted in a bang.<\/p>\n

This past December, German authorities were forced to disarm an unexploded 1,100-pound World War II explosive that turned up at a construction site in a trendy Frankfurt neighborhood.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Port Charlotte woman accused of sex with teen at birthday party<\/h3>\n

A 44-year-old woman has been arrested, charged with having sex with a 17-year-old at a teen\u2019s birthday party, the Charlotte County Sheriff\u2019s Office said.<\/p>\n

According to a news release, a student confided in a staff member at their high school May 11 that they had been raped at a party May 9 in Port Charlotte.<\/p>\n

Charlotte County Sheriff\u2019s Office Major Crimes detectives were notified. During their investigation, the victim said the incident happened at a home in Port Charlotte after a teen\u2019s birthday party.<\/p>\n

The suspect, identified as 44-year-old Jessica Good and another female returned home around 2 a.m., after a night of drinking. After returning home intoxicated, Good continued to \u201chang out\u201d with the juveniles while allegedly making extremely inappropriate sexual comments and providing the 17-year-old victim with alcohol.<\/p>\n

Later that morning, a 12-year-old was asleep on a bean bag chair just a foot from the suspect and 17-year-old victim, when she was awakened by Good and the 17-year-old on a love seat actively engaged in intercourse. Immediately after, Good retrieved her clothing and personal belongings and left the home.<\/p>\n

On May 11, detectives located Jessica Good and charged with two counts of child abuse and two counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor.<\/p>\n

Jessica Good remains at the Charlotte County Jail on a $150,000 bond.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Milwaukee bakery burglary: Suspect charged, likeness seen on cookies<\/h3>\n

A Milwaukee man faces charges for allegedly burglarizing a bakery on the city’s south side. The charges come after the bakery digitized the face of the suspect captured by surveillance video \u2013 and put it on cookies the bakery then sold.<\/p>\n

45-year-old Dominic Kolp is charged with burglary of a building and felony bail jumping.<\/p>\n

According to the criminal complaint, police were dispatched to Canfora-Lakeside Bakery on E. Oklahoma Avenue early on Tuesday, April 20 to investigate an unlawful entry complaint. Officers spoke with the owner of the bakery.<\/p>\n

The complaint indicates the bakery had been last open on the previous Sunday — and was scheduled to open on Tuesday, April 20. When an employee arrived to prepare for Tuesday, that person “observed that the cash drawer was missing.” The drawer apparently had roughly $200 inside.<\/p>\n

Officers reviewed interior and exterior surveillance video. The complaint says exterior video “shows a male subject wearing a cap carrying a plastic milk crate checking the side door of the bakery, and then moving around to the north side of the building” around 12:40 a.m. The suspect “re-appears, now wearing gloves and a facemask.” The complaint says he successfully removed a lockbox from a wall. “The suspect tries a key in the metal security door but cannot get the door to open. The subject then tries the key in the side door, and enters the business through the side door.”<\/p>\n

According to the complaint, interior video shows the suspect removing the cash drawer from the register. The video “shows the suspect’s face with a high degree of clarity.”<\/p>\n

Police released the photo of the burglary suspect — and the owner of the bakery “took the digitized image of the burglary suspect and converted it into a cookie decoration in the likeness of the suspect. The decorated cookies were widely reported.”<\/p>\n

On April 26, an officer saw the pictures of the suspect online — and recognized him. A couple of days later, a local business owner also called police to identify the suspect in the bakery burglary as Kolp.<\/p>\n

The complaint says on May 9, officers responded to a hotel on W. Layton Avenue where Kolp was staying. He attempted to jump from a second-floor balcony to escape police but was taken into custody.<\/p>\n

When interviewed by police, the complaint says Kolp “denied going into the bakery. The defendant stated that he jumped from the hotel balcony because he knew he was wanted in connection with the bakery burglary.”<\/p>\n

Kolp made his initial appearance in Milwaukee County court on Saturday, May 15. Cash bond was set at $1,000. Kolp is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on May 24.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
