Last night – Sunday 18 April 2021 – the show “60 Minutes<\/a>” had as their lead story a segment on Oath Keepers.<\/p>\n

They stated how prominently that the Oath Keepers were involved in the Capitol riots on January 6th and how people may not know that much about them.\u00a0 They promoted the group as a well-organized, well-trained paramilitary militia made up of ex-military and ex-law enforcement.<\/p>\n

They mentioned Jessica Watkins but failed to mention she served as a man.\u00a0 We wrote about her here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

They also featured and interviewed James Arroyo, who we wrote about here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Arroyo is the leader of the Arizona chapter of the Oath Keepers which is their largest chapter.\u00a0 Although he did not go much into his own personal background, he reiterated the military and law enforcement background that the Oath Keepers have.\u00a0 He basically says in the interview that his group departs in philosophy from the Oath Keepers that stormed the Capital building.\u00a0 They are not us type-of-thing.<\/p>\n

It was an interesting segment overall but promoted the idea that the Oath Keepers are representative of an aspect of right-wing thinking and are a group of respected ex-military and ex-law enforcement.\u00a0 This could not be further from the truth.\u00a0 We have found the Oath Keepers to be a band of misfits and wannabe embellishers, including Arroyo himself.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
