The good folks at Military Phony<\/a> send us their work on this Donald Wayne Lidy<\/a> fella.\u00a0 Lidy lives in Speedway, Indiana and is 51 years old at the time of this writing – March 2021.<\/p>\n

As you can see from the above photo, Lidy is wearing one of those ball caps that no self-respecting SEAL would be caught wearing. The Trident logo is so big it is reminiscent of the ‘facehugger’ from the Aliens movies.<\/p>\n

Lidy seems to have an entire wardrobe of\u00a0 SEAL bling and is not shy about wearing it.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Here is a SEAL Team Six claim by virtue of the billboard on the back of his shirt.<\/p>\n

Then, Lidy displays his “rack” on his Facebook page as his profile photo.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The pin\/badge on the bottom is the SWCC.\u00a0 The U.S. Navy\u2019s special warfare combatant-craft crewmen (SWCC, pronounced \u201cswick\u201d) is a special operations force that operates and maintains an inventory of small craft used to support special operations missions, particularly those of the U.S. Navy SEALs.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Lidy often posts the SEAL Trident on his Facebook page, implying he was a Navy SEAL.<\/p>\n

Let’s not forget his truck…<\/p>\n

Lidy also has a few ball caps that imply he was a veteran of Desert Storm.<\/p>\n

Lidy was honored by the Quilts of Valor Foundation.\u00a0 We are told that this award was for Lidy\u2019s \u201cengagement in direct combat\u201d during the Gulf War.<\/p>\n

An ex-SEAL that works with Military Phony checked both the UDT\/SEAL archives and the UDT\/SEAL database and found that there is NO record of \u201cDonald Wayne Lidy\u201d or any other variation of his name ever completing BUD\/S Training or assigned to any SEAL teams.<\/p>\n

Then, there’s this from the USS Hue City (CG-66) 1993 Med Cruise book.<\/p>\n

DISCUSSION and SUMMARY<\/strong><\/h2>\n

There is no record of Donald Wayne Lidy attending BUD\/S-SEAL training and no record of him serving with a SEAL Team.<\/p>\n

The Department of the Navy official records show no assignment to BUD\/S training or a SEAL Team.\u00a0 There is no record of the SWCC device.<\/p>\n

Nor is there any indication that Lidy, based on awards, was in Desert Storm.\u00a0 He only entered the Navy in October of 1990 and after a few months in boot camp, and possible leave right after boot camp, he reported to the USS Paul (FF-1080) on 16 Feb 1991.\u00a0 Since Desert Storm ended on 28 Feb 1991, it represented a very tight window to make such a claim.<\/p>\n

The USS Paul (FF-1080) participated in Desert Shield\/Storm from Aug 1990 to Mar 1991, so it is conceivable that Lidy reported on the ship for the last 12 days of Desert Storm, but Lidy has no Southwest Asia Service Medal, the Kuwait Liberation Medal nor the Saudi Arabian Medal for the Liberation of Kuwait.<\/p>\n

Although we cannot independently verify this \u2013 we are told that Lidy claimed to be a Navy SEAL for over 20 years until a member of the Speedway, Indiana American Legion Post 500 called him out on it last year.<\/p>\n

The Quilts of Valor Foundation may want to reconsider its criteria.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It seems little Donny Lidy served his country honorably and although he was not an overachiever, he should still be proud of his actual service.\u00a0 If there are people who might have the impression that little Donny was a Navy SEAL,\u00a0we are glad to help clear up any confusion on the matter.\u00a0 He was not.<\/p>\n

Serving aboard a Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser is some seriously demanding duty.\u00a0 I hope Donny here stops prancing around in all those silly outfits that might give people the wrong impression about his actual service.\u00a0 I also hope he stops putting on that shirt with the USMC EGA LOGO, he is most certainly not a United States Marine.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
