Off-Duty Detective Cleared In Shooting Death Of Neighbor<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nAn off-duty Rockland County detective who shot and killed his Orange County neighbor has been cleared of any wrongdoing by a grand jury.<\/p>\n

Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler announced that on Wednesday, March 17, an Orange County grand jury declined to file charges against an off-duty Town of Ramapo Police detective who shot a man on Monday, July 6, at the detective\u2019s residence in the Town of Cornwall.<\/p>\n

An investigation determined that the man, who suffered from mental health issues and lived next-door to the detective, had shown up at the detective\u2019s house unannounced and attempted to stab the detective with a knife, the DA’s Office said.<\/p>\n

The man was shot by the detective and died.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nAn armored truck crew shot a gunman who tried to rob them Friday morning at a bank in the North Austin neighborhood.<\/p>\n

An armed passenger of an SUV stepped out and demanded money from a guard as he unloaded an ATM, according to a statement from Chicago police.<\/p>\n

The security guard, who worked on the truck, took out his own gun and fired shots, striking the person in the \u201ccenter of his torso area,\u201d police said.<\/p>\n

The robbery happened about 8:40 a.m. at a BMO Harris Bank branch at 4959 W. North Ave., police and the FBI said.<\/p>\n

The wounded male drove off in the dark-colored SUV and was not in custody, police said. He was last seen going west on North Avenue.<\/p>\n

The FBI responded to the incident, according to an FBI spokesperson.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
