Schools in Tamil Nadu in India have to shut down again due to a resurgence of the Covid19 virus.<\/p>\n

However, they would continue to function for the 12th standard students for they have to take the board examination. Notifying the closure, the government said the director of public health and preventive medicine has recommended that it would not be advisable to continue classes for 9, 10 and 11 from the health point of view as there has been a rise in COVID-19 cases. With regard to 12th standard, the director said the students may be permitted to attend school as their numbers would be lesser and they have to sit for the board examination with strictly adherence to preventive measures such as wearing of masks and maintaining social distancing. First of all, this does not surprise me. It was and is predictable that the Covid19 virus would show up again, regardless of precautions taken. In this morning\u2019s local news, the local infection rate has risen slightly over this past week and the mortality rate has been bumped up a small\u00a0 percentage as well. This is in spite of social distancing, masks applied, and vaccinations given. It is and was bound to happen. Frankly, I expected to see a rise after the initial stage took place and would seem to have been conquered, but the head of the infectious diseases department at a local (and quite well-known) university said yesterday that we will<\/em> see a rise again, just as happened with the Spanish flu epidemic. Just be prepared for it.<\/p>\n After all, the Black Plague (which may have been more than one disease) swept through Europe three times before it gave up and went away. And the Spanish flu epidemic in the USA after WWI had two full episodes of influ<\/p>\n I expect to see a repeat of it all, just as happened in the UK starting a few weeks ago, when Boris the PM-ster put everyone under lockdown. How effective is his lockdown order? Well, when I go to the live cam at Linlithgow, Scotland, I see people out and about and the same thing at beaches in Cornwall, far to the south.<\/p>\n
