“The United States military is the greatest the world has ever seen because of its diversity,” intoned Pentagon Press Secretary John F. Kirby during a morning news briefing. This party line statement was the result of some pointed remarks made by Tucker, where he contrasted Chinese efforts to promote traditional masculinity with President Biden\u2019s recent announcement that the US military is developing new uniforms to accommodate women\u2019s hairstyles, as well as pregnant women.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo we\u2019ve got new hairstyles and maternity flight suits,\u201d said Carlson. \u201cPregnant women are going to fight our wars. It\u2019s a mockery of the US military.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to be very clear right up front, that the diversity of our military is one of our greatest strengths,\u201d Pentagon press secretary and former CNN commentator John Kirby said during a Thursday briefing. \u201cI\u2019ve seen it for myself in long months at sea and in the combat waged by our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. I\u2019ve seen it up on Capitol Hill just this past month. And I see it every day here right at the Pentagon.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kirby was responding to comments made by Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who said during his March 9 show that Biden\u2019s Department of Defense is more focused on woke adventurism than winning wars.<\/p>\n

Carlson noted that the Department of Defense is creating body armor and flight suits for pregnant women, and is planning to change female hairstyle requirements. He also railed against the Chief of Naval Operations\u2019 addition of the book \u201cHow To Be Antiracist,\u201d by American University professor Ibram X. Kendi, to the Navy\u2019s official reading list. Columbia University professor John McWhorter described Kendi\u2019s arguments as \u201cfacile and subjective.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
