What’s the current state of the police state in Washington D.C. look like you might ask? Upwards of 25,000 National Guard troops are there or enroute for security. To put that into perspective, the Battle of Tarawa in 1943 involved about 18,000 Marines.<\/p>\n

To bolster all of those troops, they’re installing walls of concrete barriers, fencing, and razor wire making the capitol look more like a prison than the people’s district. All this to protect the folks in our halls of power, half of whom who spent the last four years and counting talking about how ineffective walls, fencing, and barriers are as a security apparatus.<\/p>\n

Breitbart has a compilation<\/a> of the scene on the ground. I can see why Mayor Bowser (no relation to the Super Mario Bros. villain) is expecting a “new normal”. According to the DC Guard’s history pages<\/a>, after 9\/11 they activated 100 soldiers to serve as security around the US Congressional buildings. The response to last week’s riot is 250 times greater (in terms of domestically deployed guardsmen) than it was to terrorists flying a freaking jetliner full of Americans into the Pentagon!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
