Ever the political waffler, Senator Joe faces an Impeachment Conundrum: vote the Dem party line and risk the ire of his constituents. The fact there is zero chance of Trump actually being impeached and convicted will doubtless be considered. He’ll be given a bye after the appropriate amount of political sausage has been ground.<\/p>\n

Griffin<\/strong><\/p>\n Charleston, WV \u2014 West Virginia US Sen., Joe Manchin, spoke with Fox News on Monday evening that the move by House Democrats to impeach President Donald Trump was \u201cill-advised.\u201d Moreover, Manchin said the votes to convict and remove the president in the Senate are not there.<\/p>\n During the interview, Bret Bair asked Manchin whether there were the votes in the Senate to convict and remove Trump for allegedly inciting a riot that resulted in people storming into the US Capital Wednesday of last week.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t see any of that, because there will be 48, still 48 Democrats, until we seat Warnock and Sen. Ossoff,\u201d Manchin said. \u201cSo, until that happens, you need 67 votes. I think, my arithmetic, that means we have 19 Republicans. I don\u2019t see that. And I think the House should know that also. We have been trying to send that message over. They know the votes aren\u2019t there. You would think that they would do that.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI think this is so ill-advised for Joe Biden to be coming in, trying to heal the country, trying to be the president of all the people, when we\u2019re going to be so divided and fighting again. Let the judicial system do its job,\u201d he continued. \u201cAnd then, we\u2019re a country of the rule of law. That\u2019s the bedrock of who we are. Let that take its place. Let the investigations go on. Let the evidence come forth, and then we will go forward from there. There\u2019s no rush to do this impeachment now. We can do it later if they think it\u2019s necessary.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n So the impeachment of Trump is, in the Senator’s mind rather like an assault weapons ban.
