Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), a retired Army National Guard lieutenant colonel who lost her legs in action in Iraq, has joined fellow veteran Representative Jason Crow (D-CO) in encouraging what can only be described as the first stop in a political purge of the military<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The January 6th Capitol protest attended to by many thousands was, as the media has been telling us all year, “mostly peaceful.” The insurrectionist behavior of a few people at one rally is apparently vastly different than the insurrectionist behavior of a few other people at another rally (or dozens of rallies in dozens of cities across the US, laying weeks-long sieges to government buildings).<\/p>\n

Imagine any sitting politician demanding that CID\/OSI\/NCIS\/CGIS open investigations into any servicemembers (including those retired) who have shown sympathies to any other political movement no matter how revolutionary the aims. Off the top of my head, Occupy Wall Street, Antifa, and BLM in recent years.<\/p>\n

The Army is working to determine which National Guard troops assisting the Jan. 20 presidential inauguration require additional security checks, and is also offering more training on threat detection for those Guardsmen arriving to Washington, D.C., in the coming days, according to the service.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are working with the Secret Service to determine which service members supporting the national special security event for the Inauguration require additional background screening,\u201d an Army spokesperson said in an emailed response to queries. \u201cThe D.C. National Guard is also providing additional training to service members as they arrive in D.C. that if they see or hear something that is not appropriate, they should report it to their chain of command.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
