\nPolice say the homeowner fired ‘in protection of his young children’<\/em><\/p>\n

\nA Texas father of two shot and killed one of three intruders who entered his home Sunday and held his family at gunpoint, according to local reports.<\/p>\n

The following day, the home on 18th street in Port Arthur was also the apparent target of a shooting around 6 p.m., and a a few hours later a fire was reported there around midnight, Port Arthur News said.<\/p>\n

Port Arthur Police said armed suspect Terence Ellies, 27, died Sunday at the scene of the aggravated robbery after he and two other armed suspects, whom police say may have known the homeowners, forcibly entered the residence as a female resident was arriving, according to PA News.<\/p>\n

“The homeowner fired several shots at the suspect, who was pronounced deceased on scene,” Sgt. Shannon Meaux told the outlet. “The other two suspects fled the area before officers arrived.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nMurders have skyrocketed this year, as local governments have become softer on crime. In the 57 major cities for which data is available, the murder rate is up an average of 36.7%. Murder went up in 51 cities, and down in only six cities. Murder is up 74.1% in Seattle, 72.3% in Minneapolis, 55.5% in Chicago, 54.1% in Boston, 39.2% in New York, 34.5% in St. Louis, and 30.4% in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

This huge rise in murder occurred as progressive prosecutors became softer on crime, parole became available to more murderers, and the death penalty stopped being used in most states.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
