Woman kills live-in boyfriend after tomahawk incident, says it was self-defense<\/strong>
\n59-year-old woman isn\u2019t facing charges, according to Sheriff\u2019s Office<\/em><\/p>\n

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. \u2013 A Daytona Beach woman told police she was in bed late Christmas Eve when her live-in boyfriend raised a tomahawk over her — so she shot the man to death, she told detectives.<\/p>\n

Authorities with the Volusia County Sheriff\u2019s Office are now investigating. Deputies were called to the home, on San Jose Boulevard, about 11:45 p.m. Thursday, according to a news release.<\/p>\n

The woman, age 59, isn\u2019t facing any charges.<\/p>\n

She reported she grabbed a gun that was next to the bed and shot her partner, now identified as 60-year-old Troy Sorrell.<\/p>\n

It was in self-defense, the woman told investigators, as she feared Sorrell was about to strike her with the tomahawk as he held it over his head, the news release said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

String of armed robberies ends with suspect shot at corner store in Rochester<\/strong><\/p>\n

ROCHESTER, N.Y. \u2014 A string of armed convenience store robberies that started in Victor ended on Thurston Road in Rochester Wednesday night, when an employee of Angelo\u2019s Grocery Store shot the suspect.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s according to Rochester police, who say the suspect \u2014 a 25-year-old Rochester man \u2014 is in custody.<\/p>\n

Investigators say the suspect began by robbing a Kwik Fill in Victor and then robbed a FastTrac on West Ridge Road and a Family Dollar on Dewey Avenue. They say the suspect was shot while attempting to rob Angelo\u2019s Grocery. The timeline is as follows:<\/p>\n

3:38 p.m.: robbery at Kwik Fill in Victor (a suspect and vehicle description was broadcast to RPD)
\n6:49 p.m.: robbery at the FastTrac at 375 W Ridge Road
\n7:07 p.m.: robbery at the Family Dollar at 706 Dewey Avenue
\n7:26 p.m.: attempted robbery at Angelo\u2019s Grocery and Deli at 579 Thurston Road<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
