Researching the story led to some of the usual suspects’ pontifications, using descriptors like “Trump goes on a rampage with pardons” “…corrupt excess..” “…blindsided aides…” and “…sleazy final days of the Trump White House.” I don’t need to be specific, they’re all pretty much playing from the same talking point handbook. I read the articles so you don’t have to.
\nAll this for exercising a perfectly legal Executive power. Among those receiving Presidential attention are George Papadopoulos, and four military contractors for Blackwater. Also receiving full pardons are Border Patrol Agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean.

Donald Trump Pardons Fifteen Americans Including George Papadopoulos<\/h3>\n

President Donald Trump pardoned fifteen Americans Tuesday night, including his former campaign adviser, George Papadopoulos.<\/p>\n

Papadopoulos was charged with one count of making false statements during Special Counsel Robert Muller\u2019s investigation into accusations of the Trump campaign colluding with Russia.<\/p>\n

\u201cNotably, Mueller stated in his report that he found no evidence of collusion in connection with Russia\u2019s attempts to interfere in the election,\u201d the statement from the White House read. \u201cNonetheless, the Special Counsel\u2019s team still charged Mr. Papadopoulos with this process-related crime.\u201d<\/p>\n

The president also issued a pardon to Alex van der Zwaan in connection with Mueller\u2019s investigation, as he was also charged with a process-related crime of making false statements.<\/p>\n

Trump also pardoned Nicholas Slatten, Paul Slough, Evan Liberty, and Dustin Heard, four military veterans who were serving as military contractors for Blackwater in Iraq who were prosecuted for the deaths of Iraqi civilians. The pardon was supported by Fox News host Pete Hegseth and many other Republicans in Congress.<\/p>\n

President Trump also pardoned Border Patrol Agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean, who were charged and convicted of assault after shooting an illegal immigrant whom they believed was armed and resisted arrest. President George W. Bush previously issued commutations for both men during his final days in office, but Trump extended a full pardon.<\/p>\n

President Trump also commuted the sentences of five additional people.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
