Robbery Attempt Leaves One Man Dead<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nOne man is dead and another was shot after an apparent home invasion and robbery attempt went bad early Saturday morning in Elk City.<\/p>\n

25-year-old Isaiah Johnson was arrested Sunday on a complaint of second degree murder for his role in the crime.<\/p>\n

According to authorities with the Elk City Police Department the shooting took place inside a home in the 600 block of N. Watkins. The home owner would tell police that two men, Johnson and 39-year-old Samuel Castro Junior had entered his home and approached the victim in his bedroom. He would say that Castro would point a gun at his head and demanded money. Fearing for his life, the homeowner would successfully overpower and take the gun from Castro and stated that he shot Castro multiple times until he fell to the floor. Castro died at the scene. The homeowner stated that Johnson would flee the home.<\/p>\n

Later, police were contacted by the Great Plains Regional Medical Center to report a man that was being treated for a gunshot wound to the chest and arm. The man, Johnson, was treated and released to the Elk City Police where he was transported to the Elk City Police Department for questioning.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nAn off-duty City of Miami Police officer shot and killed a man who allegedly attempted to break into a West Miami-Dade home while his teenage son was inside, according to investigators.<\/p>\n

Miami-Dade Police and Fire Rescue units responded to the scene along the 700 block of Southwest 98th Court at around 4 p.m., Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hear \u2018Boom, boom, boom, boom,’\u201d neighbor Raul Artiles said. \u201cSomebody shooting with a pistol, like 10 or 13 times.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to police, a person attempted to break into the home while a 13-year-old boy was inside.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe 13-year-old child located within the residence contacted his parents and stated that someone was trying to break in from the rear,\u201d Miami-Dade Police detective Kristopher Welch said. \u201cHis father, a City of Miami Police officer, responded on scene, confronted the subject, shots were fired. He ultimately succumbed to his injuries.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
