There are Twitterpates about seizing a big country house and taking it over. So let’s all just crowd into one spot and make each other sick, right? Makes sense to me.

Yeah, that makes sense, don’tcha think? Last winter in the UK alone was, from what I saw reported elsewhere, rather brutal, especially in the northern end. Not all those old homes have central heating, which we do take for granted around here.

American Partisan is a prepper site, so take that into account, but he’s using a link to an external source for his info.

From his article: ” I’m reminded of a Hurricane Katrina story that was once well known on Arfcom. A fellow in northern Louisiana had told a few prepper friends that they could park their RVs on his small farm. So far so good, but friends told friends, the address was passed around, and soon every square foot of the tract was covered in RVs and tents. It wasn’t long before a power shift occurred, and a “committee” of RV-dwelling perfect strangers marched to the house to demand access to the facilities. The owner of the land was no longer calling the shots, simply by weight of numbers. Have a plan to keep this from happening in your AO, even if it means temporarily blocking bridges or other choke points.” – article

We aren’t having those mass lockdowns here the way they’re going on in New Zealand (#2 is underway now) and London and Paris, and I don’t expect that to happen.

Go to the Daily Mail Online link in the AP article and you’ll see the traffic jams as well as things like this:

Escape from Paris: City is gridlocked as tens of thousands flee, stations are packed, violent protests break out and shelves are stripped ahead of month-long lockdown that BANS travel

That’s like deja-vu all over again, isn’t it? And that’s just in Paris. London is one of the worst cities ever constructed if you want to escape from it for any reason.

My sister, who teaches a a large university, told me that one of her students said she’d tested positive for Covid-19, and my sister (who is the ultimate control freak) freaked out after the class was over. I spent two days texting her photos of flowers and my cat and she finally did recover from her fright. I can understand her reaction; the bug is quite deadly and we don’t have a vaccine for it yet. The testing stage is not complete, and we all know that someone will have a bad reaction to the vaxx, even if it is safe. That always happens.

But now, think of the possibilities if the Bored Silly Idjits who like to riot over nothing (and steal stuff while they’re at it) were told “stay indoors and deal with it, or ELSE”. Large cities on fire? Oooooh! OH, wait, we’ve already had that. Looting, pillaging, rioting – no, we had that this past summer. Hmmm…. Shelves stripped bare…. Been there, done that. I’ll order more cat food anyway, just in case.

New Zealand is on total lockdown now for the second time. Otherwise, their death rate would likely be higher.

The Governator in Illinois, Pritzker re-upped the lockdown for the state. I haven’t seen anything yet about Wisconsin, Indiana, MO, Iowa, or Michigan doing the same thing, but if you have info to that effect, please feel free to post it and vent your feelings about the whole thing. I think in Illinois, the lockdown essentially extends mostly to restaurants and retailers, although retailers can get into Amazon’s sales corps and do their business online. Yesterday, seemed pretty normal except that kids going Trick or Treating had to go to planned places or get their treats delivered by pipeline, which is really rather a giggle for kids.

That scene from Monty Python and The Holy Grail really does say it all. “Bring out yer dead! Bring out yer dead!”

I haven’t had any ravens (allegedly, the Bird of Doom) show up at my feeding station. That bird up top is a grackle. But the squirrel did show up, looking for handouts so I put out peanuts.

Enjoy your Sunday and get out and vote on Tuesday, if you haven’t voted already!

A second lockdown is either in effect in London or about to go there, and in … Bring Out Yer Dead!Read more

[220,484

post-106872","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-the-floggings-will-continue-until-morale-improves","category-covid-19
["GET
