Your ration of grog for the day includes a good portion of rum. While I do not recall the Navy\u2019s approval of alcohol consumption by sailors while ashore, there is apparently a necessity while on board a Navy ship to be drunk enough to climb the ladders to brace the sails while the ship runs before the wind, especially on a three-masted barquentine.<\/p>\n
