Berkeley is gearing up to become the first city in the nation to ban\u00a0junk food\u00a0from the checkout line in grocery stores.<\/p>\n

In a\u00a0unanimous vote Tuesday night, the Berkeley City Council passed the \u201chealthy checkout\u201d ordinance.<\/p>\n

Come March 2021, when the measure is set to take effect, large grocery stores in the California city\u00a0will be prohibited from selling food and beverages deemed unhealthy in a 3-foot radius from the checkout.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not really a ban, it\u2019s a nudge,\u201d co-sponsor of the ordinance\u00a0Councilmember Kate Harrison\u00a0told FOX Business. \u201cWhat we have discovered is that this law enforces good behavioral economics and facilitates better choices.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It’s not a ban, it’s a nudge. As they proceed to institute bans on where people can find a Snickers at the grocery store. These are the same people that want to implement “reasonable” gun control restrictions. It’s not a ban, it’s a nudge.<\/p>\n
