Seattle has had a lot of issues as of late. Most of them are being blamed by the protesters and politicians on the police. Cops are leaving the department because it’s not a friendly place to work, and earlier this year the city abandoned a precinct, giving it and a good chunk of the city, to the protesters. Eventually after murders, sexual assaults, and other nefarious activity, the city had to bust down the “autonomous zone.”<\/p>\n
Solving one problem, the city now wants to address “systemic” issues with the police. Naturally, the person you hire for this should be an expert on police-community interactions, right? Seattle found their man. You might even say, “He’s the pimp!”<\/p>\n
The city of Seattle has hired an ex-pimp at a $150,000 a year salary as the new “Street Czar,” Andre Taylor. Before Taylor was contracted by the city to provide “expertise and support services in de-escalation, community engagement, and alternatives to policing,” he was engaged in prostitution.<\/p>\n
According to\u00a0KOMO news<\/a>, “\u2026under the terms of the year-long contract, the city will pay Taylor and his group, called Not This Time, $150,000” for their services.<\/p>\n
\n\n\n“The contract was signed by a representative from the city’s Department of Neighborhoods on June 22, as the CHOP demonstrations were still unfolding. Taylor didn’t sign the contract, however, until July 27.”<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\nIn Las Vegas, Cheryl Davis admitted to being a prostitute and living in Taylor’s home, with two other women who were engaged in the same concern, one who was a teen runaway and the other who had years of experience, and is now facing felony charges in association with prostitution.<\/p>\n
According to the\u00a0Las Vegas Sun<\/em>,\u00a0<\/em>during Taylor’s trial on pimping charges “\u2026Davis told of bringing Taylor thousands of dollars from her prostitution activities although she got little in return.”<\/p>\n
\n\n\nTaylor was eventually convicted\u00a0of seven prostitution-related counts, three involving the Davis, two involving adult women who traveled with him, as well as two money-laundering counts.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\nTaylor was featured in the 1999 documentary\u00a0American Pimp<\/em>\u00a0which examined “pimping subculture,” and is known to have bragged about impregnating the young girls he pimped.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Obviously, this man has experience with police interactions. Probably not ones that were mutually productive, but what can you do?<\/p>\n
One might wonder just what his bona fides are for being a community organizer. Well wonder no more;<\/p>\n
Seattle officials and the local media call Taylor a “civic activist” in large part because his brother, Che Taylor, was killed by police in 2016 during an\u00a0attempted arrest for drug possession.<\/p>\n
The shooting was ruled lawful when a gun was found at the scene. Che Taylor had been previously convicted of rape and robbery and had multiple outstanding warrants. Activists in Seattle continue to demand justice.<\/p>\n
After the shooting, Andre Taylor formed the group “Not This Time” which seeks to “engage with local community members, the families of those who have lost their loved ones to police shootings, and those who work inside the system, to demand more police accountability and safer communities.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
One would think that, if he really wanted to see fewer police shootings, that “Not This Time” would focus more on educating convicted felons that they cannot legally possess firearms. Further educate them that if they do (illegally) possess firearms, they probably shouldn’t pull them on the cops trying to arrest you for all your warrants. Again, what can you do? I’m sure Seattle will get their $150k worth out of a man whose street name is “Gorgeous Dre.”<\/p>\n
