Grand jury rules Keene killing self defense<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nA Nelson County grand jury declined to indict the man who stabbed Jamie Keene to death in April.<\/p>\n

The grand jury heard testimony for more than six hours and from at least seven witnesses, including the victim\u2019s mother, an expert engineer hired by the Keene family and the 18-year-old man who stabbed him in what a police investigation indicated was a dispute over a woman.<\/p>\n

The no true bill \u2014 a legal document returned when a grand jury hears evidence and decides not to levy charges \u2014 was released by the Nelson Circuit Court Clerk late Thursday morning.<\/p>\n

The Nelson County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office issued a statement immediately following the clerk\u2019s release, saying the grand jury found Keene\u2019s killing was in self defense and that the Castle Doctrine, which allows the use of deadly force if someone enters another\u2019s premises without permission, applied.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Phoenix police: Security guard shoots and kills man armed with knife, possibly in self defense<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nPolice say a security guard shot and killed a man in Phoenix Thursday morning.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred about 10 a.m. near Interstate 17 and Central Avenue, according to Phoenix Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Ann Justus. <\/p>\n

There, an armed security guard shot 37-year-old Shawn King, who was armed with a knife, Justus said. Police did not explain the events leading up to the shooting or say where the security guard was working. <\/p>\n

King was pronounced dead at the scene despite fire officials’ attempts to save his life, according to Justus. <\/p>\n

Early evidence and witness statements indicate the guard may have been acting in self defense, Justus said. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

There seems to be some dissatisfaction expressed of late over the thoughtfully researched and displayed weapons that adorn the Daily FGS post. I am sensitive to the desires of our members, Delta Whiskies and Whiskettes, but there are certain realities one must face. First and foremost is the limited number of suitable weapons available for display. I do recognize a steady diet of firearms designed by a single source will become stale quite quickly, and strive to keep interest up by presenting weapons of differing pedigree. This seems to be the root cause of the rumblings.

I have even thoughtfully provided, at no small expense, a number system to facilitate the process to ensure all are fairly seen in the order of their respective complaint.
