MC man convicted of stolen valor, forgery<\/strong><\/p>\n By Josh Dooley Joseph Todd, known locally as Kenny Fagan, received four years of probation as part of a plea bargain.<\/p>\n Todd’s legal troubles for assuming the identity of a dead child and using the identity to claim more than $140,000 in federal benefits may not be over as the federal government could potentially charge him with crimes and seek restitution for the benefits paid to Todd.<\/p>\n As part of the plea bargain, Circuit Court Judge John Putman sentenced Todd to 120 days in the Marion County Jail on the forgery charges and 30 days on the stolen valor charge. Since Todd has been in jail since his March 5 arrest, he will likely be released soon.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Read the rest here: Baxter Bulletin<\/a><\/p>\n FDNY: Man who spoke at Naples 9\/11 memorial event fabricated experiences<\/strong><\/p>\n Author: Jake Allen According to the FDNY, it’s a case of stolen valor, a person claiming to have been there in the aftermath of the attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001.<\/p>\n But Maurice Keshner, who is originally from New York City, stands by his story.<\/p>\n He told a crowd of about 40 people at a Freedom Park ceremony in Naples that he was a “commander” with the FDNY at Ground Zero for two months following the attacks.<\/p>\n Keshner said he was a retired chief of emergency medical services when an FDNY fire chief called him to serve as a chief at Ground Zero.<\/p>\n Keshner said they even sent a helicopter to airlift him to the site on 9\/11 and that he oversaw a team involved with recovery efforts.<\/p>\n Frank Dwyer, FDNY spokesman and deputy commissioner of the fire department, called Keshner’s claims “absurd” and said there are no records that show Keshner ever worked for the department.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
