Store clerk shoots man after incident outside Fayetteville food mart<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nPolice said a convenience store clerk shot a man Tuesday night after a group started bothering a homeless man outside the shop.<\/p>\n

Officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to the Suburban Food Mart at 2112 Murchison Road around 11 p.m.<\/p>\n

According to police, three people approached the store and started talking to a homeless man who was outside. When a store clerk and a paid security guard went outside and asked them to leave, the three began to assault the clerk and security guard.<\/p>\n

The clerk and security guard then ran back into the store for their own safety.<\/p>\n

Another employee fired gunshots at the three people, who police said were trying to break inside the store.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nAn elderly woman fired a \u201cwarning shot\u201d after a man broke into her home, and held the suspect at gunpoint before deputies were able to take him into custody, officials said.<\/p>\n

On Thursday around 2 p.m., deputies received reports of a possible burglary call on the 15000 block of Baker Canyon Road in Canyon Country, said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff\u2019s Station.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe elderly female victim called 9-1-1 and said the male adult was knocking and trying to get into her house,\u201d Miller said. \u201cShe did not know who he was.\u201d<\/p>\n

Moments later, the burglary suspect made entry into her home, according to Miller.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe locked herself in a room, (and) the suspect allegedly forced entry into the room,\u201d Miller said.<\/p>\n

The victim had a firearm, and told the suspect to leave, according to Miller.<\/p>\n

After the suspect exited the house, the woman fired one shot in the air and told the suspect to get on the ground, according to Sheriff\u2019s officials.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was on the ground when deputies arrived,\u201d Miller said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Off-Duty Cook County Corrections Officer Shoots Armed Robber Who Was Trying To Carjack Him, Officials Say<\/strong><\/p>\n

CHICAGO (CBS) \u2014 An off-duty Cook County Sheriff\u2019s corrections officer shot and wounded a man who was trying to carjack him along with two others in South Chicago early Thursday morning, officials said.<\/p>\n

Around 2:30 a.m., the off-duty corrections officer was getting out of his car in the 7900 block of South Essex Avenue when three men walked up and tried to steal his car, according to the Sheriff\u2019s office.<\/p>\n

One of the men had a gun, the Sheriff\u2019s office said.<\/p>\n

The corrections officer fired his own gun and struck the armed man in the groin and arm, the Sheriff\u2019s office said. The other two would-be robbers ran off, and the suspect who was shot was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was treated and released into Chicago Police custody.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
