Police: Man brandished gun at Tallahassee protest in self-defense<\/strong><\/p>\n

TALLAHASEE, Fla. (AP) \u2014 Police in Florida say a man who pulled a gun at a protest won\u2019t face charges because he was defending himself.<\/p>\n

The Tallahassee Police Department said in a statement that the incident occurred during a protest downtown. Police said a white man began \u201cdocumenting the protest\u201d and then was pushed from behind. A fight ensued, police said, and the man was knocked to the ground.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe got back to his feet and brandished a gun,\u201d the statement said, but \u201cofficers quickly engaged, took the individual into custody and peacefully dispersed the crowd.\u201d<\/p>\n

No charges were filed, and no injuries were reported. Police said the man with the gun \u201cwas lawfully carrying a concealed weapon as a license holder.\u201d<\/p>\n

The demonstration was organized by the Tallahassee Community Action Committee in response to the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin, which has sparked protests around the country.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Man killed after breaking into a home in Palo<\/strong><\/p>\n

PALO, Iowa (KCRG) – The Linn County Sheriff\u2019s Office said multiple calls alerted them to a man attempting to break into homes in the area of Sage and Ridgeview Drives in Palo at around 3 a.m. on Monday.<\/p>\n

Deputies were in the area when they received another call from a home in the 2700 block of Ridgeview Drive. Officials said the man had broken into the home and threatened the occupants, but the homeowner shot him.<\/p>\n

Deputies and medical personnel began CPR, but the intruder was pronounced dead.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
