Morgan Olson of Deer Park, Wisconsin has a severely autistic son. She found a group, Service Dogs by Warren Retrievers<\/a>. They told her that she could fund raise for the cost of the dog. That cost isn’t given in the article, but she eventually raised $20,000 from friends, family, and the community. SDWR sent a message that they were on the list for a dog. Since then it’s been silence, the money is God knows where, and Nolan Olson doesn’t have a dog to help him cope with his limitations.<\/p>\n

There’s a very autistic child in my wife’s family, so I can sympathize fully with Morgan’s quote here;<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought this might be the one thing that will help us keep him from having to go into an institution at some point,\u201d she said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

But there was at least this one red flag;<\/p>\n

\u00a0Olson [received] a letter from SDWR insisting the money be raised though an account the non-profit controlled.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It sounds like this isn’t the first time SDWR has done this. The victim group is large enough they have a Facebook group.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a question other families that paid SDWR for service dogs are also asking.\u00a0They now connect and support each other on a Facebook page.
