By now you’ve heard the story<\/a> of former Navy SEAL Rob O’Neill who now has been banned from flying on Delta Airlines due to a tweet that he made in violation of the airlines mask policy.\u00a0 O’Neill was the SEAL that killed Bin Laden by shooting him three times on the now famous raid on Bin Laden’s compound.<\/p>\n

O’Neill tweeted the following…<\/p>\n

Although O’Neill’s judgment was immediately overruled by his wife, who asked that he remove the tweet – which he did – he was banned from flying on Delta Airlines in the future.<\/p>\n

Now, O’Neill wants a mask-to-mask, mano-e-mano sit down with the CEO of Delta Airlines.<\/p>\n

Navy SEAL banned by Delta over mask flap wants meeting with CEO<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cIf someone felt uncomfortable, I\u2019ll put the mask on,\u201d O\u2019Neill said. \u201cI don\u2019t have a problem with that. I do have a problem being ordered to do it. I don\u2019t think I violated the policy. I\u2019d love to talk to the CEO, Mr. Bastian, about it. I\u2019d like to help them because their image right now isn\u2019t very good and I have a million miles on Delta.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

O’Neill claims that Delta’s policy is you don’t have to have a mask on when you are eating and drinking, and he had just been handed something to drink and he took a selfie.\u00a0 This is evident in the photo by the flight attendant moving on to other passengers behind him.<\/p>\n

There are two sides to this, of course.\u00a0 Some are referring to the Not-So-Friendly Skies and others, including celebrities, are admonishing O’Neill for his behavior.<\/p>\n

I can see both sides.\u00a0 It is definitely a public relations disaster for Delta, but personally I prefer my heroes to be solemn and humble.\u00a0 I’ve spoken with some in the NAVSPECWAR community and although you can never say one opinion speaks for them all, there are a few that feel uncomfortable with what they feel may be showboating.<\/p>\n

O’Neill is a celebrity, no doubt.\u00a0 He has been bestowed an awesome responsibility in regard to speaking engagements, representing veterans and offering consolation to the 9-11 families.<\/p>\n

I just wonder if this is the battle to fight and place him into the limelight again.<\/p>\n

As far as Delta, if they weren’t going to offer him a seat in First Class upon recognizing his contribution, then they should have at least given him an extra bag of peanuts.<\/p>\n

Banning him from all future flights on Delta seems extreme, especially without hearing his side of the story.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
