Armed Man Uses Uberti 1866 Rifle to Stop Black Bear<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nBill Williams was recently forced to shoot and kill a 250-pound black bear with his Uberti 1866 Yellowboy carbine\u2014chambered in .45 Long Colt\u2014that invaded his Colorado cabin at 3 a.m.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt sounded like an explosion when he slammed the window open,\u201d said Williams. \u201cI grabbed the Yellowboy and walked to the opening from the bedroom to the living room. We don\u2019t have a door to separate the rooms. With the front porch light coming through the windows, I could see the bear on the couch, just 42 inches from me. I cranked off the first round and hit him. He jumped down from the couch and stood up in front of me about three feet away. I shot him twice more and he fell back to the other side of the room.\u201d<\/p>\n

Williams could see the bear was still moving and was forced to shoot several more times. After reloading, his wife Stephanie handed Williams a flashlight, and he put a final round into the bear, ending the threat.<\/p>\n

Williams lives in Conroe, TX, but he and his wife, Stephanie, summer in the small, 400-square-foot cabin in Colorado. \u201cNinety six percent of this county is national forest land,\u201d he said. \u201cIn the 23 years we have had this cabin, we have never had any problems with animals. Although, we have seen signs of them passing through our property.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Woman allegedly shoots child’s father in self-defense<\/strong><\/p>\n

DECATUR, Ill. (WICS\/WCCU) \u2014 A Decatur woman shot her child’s father in an act of self defense, according to police.<\/p>\n

The 33-year-old father was shot in the torso by his child’s mother, who claimed she was defending herself as he was attacking her when she sat in her vehicle.<\/p>\n

The man’s injury was deemed non-life threatening. The child’s mother had injuries on her face, which police said was consistent with being hit several times.<\/p>\n

Police said she had a previous head injury and has a shunt in her head, which makes being hit in the head more dangerous.<\/p>\n

The child’s mother was arrested for a weapons offense related to her not having a concealed carry license. However, she wasn’t charged for the shooting.<\/p>\n

The child’s father was arrested for vehicle invasion and domestic battery.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
