Police: FedEx Driver Fatally Shoots Suspect During Armed Robbery In Northeast Philadelphia<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nPHILADELPHIA (CBS) \u2014 Police say a FedEx driver fatally shot a suspect during an attempted robbery in Northeast Philadelphia on Tuesday night. The shooting happened shortly after 7 p.m. on the 600 block of Unruh Avenue in the city\u2019s Lawndale neighborhood.<\/p>\n

It should have been a routine delivery with the 32-year-old FedEx driver dropping off a package to a home in the area, but that\u2019s when police say, an armed gunman approached and robbed the driver, perhaps not anticipating that the FedEx driver was also armed.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was able to tell police that he was making a delivery on the 600 block of Unruh and right when he got done making that delivery, he was approached by at least one male and he was robbed at point of gun,\u201d Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said.<\/p>\n

Police say the driver was shot once in the abdomen during the robbery. Police say as they were receiving calls about shots fired in the area, the FedEx driver was able to drive himself to a nearby parking lot away from the scene.<\/p>\n

He was transported to Einstein Medical Center and is in stable condition.<\/p>\n

He told police that after being shot in the stomach, he pulled out his own weapon and returned fire at the suspect.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

There\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0already a concerted gaslighting* effort underway to convince voters that Kamala Harris, the Democratic Party\u2019s vice-presidential nominee, would never support something as crazy as the confiscation of millions of firearms.<\/p>\n

Take this\u00a0USA Today<\/em>\u00a0factcheck\u00a0headlined<\/a>\u00a0\u201cKamala Harris didn\u2019t say she\u2019d send police to take firearms via executive order.\u201d You may notice the highly narrow specificity of this debunking. It\u2019s a little game political media like to play \u2014 the\u00a0Associated Press<\/a>\u00a0miraculously ran almost an identical piece on the same day \u2014 in which reporters take a hyperbolic backbencher\u2019s comments or a misleading social-media post \u2014 in this case, a Facebook post that is \u201cgaining traction\u201d \u2014 and use it as a strawman to deceive voters about one of the controversial positions of their favored politician.<\/p>\n

While\u00a0USA Today<\/em>\u00a0is correct that Harris has never explicitly maintained that she would sign an executive order to \u201csend police\u201d to break down your door, she is the first person to be on a major presidential ticket in American history who openly supports gun confiscation. Whether she promised to implement those plans through legislation or via executive order is also, at best, opaque, despite factcheckers\u2019 efforts to claim otherwise.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
