Remember the United States Postal Service? That group of mail carriers that nobody thought much of any more. They’ve been in the red for decades now, and both sides of the aisle think it’s an issue. One thing the postal service has been doing the last several years is cut back on un-needed services. Routes can be trimmed if they cut back on the ubiquitous blue mailbox. I know a very convenient one in my neighborhood was removed years ago. It’s only common sense to cut back on underutilized resources. It wasn’t controversial in the least.<\/p>\n

Here comes 2020. The already fiscally challenged agency was threatened by COVID. Suddenly then, it became necessary for universal mail-in voting to get shoved down the entire country’s throat. Now, to some, any time they see one of these mailboxes removed, a route changed, or any other cost cutting measure that’s been employed by multiple administrations it’s a sign of Orange Man Bad.<\/p>\n

This is the powder keg of pending outrage that went up in hysterics over the weekend. Someone saw a mailbox being removed, posted it online, and got everyone all worked up. This is more <\/em>evidence that Trump is stealing the election! They screech.<\/p>\n

Well, the local news in Oregon looked into it. They weren’t removing mailboxes, they were replacing old ones. The instant outrage really needs to stop. We also need to teach critical thinking skills.<\/p>\n
