An Air Force Huey helicopter was shot at by some wanker in Virginia. One of the two pilots was injured and taken to a hospital, and was treated and subsequently released.<\/div>\n

The full story is at the link, but before you get your undies in a knot over this latest decimation of good grammar and plain English, the newsies now have a compulsive obligation to be “gender neutral” and species neutral on everything, which they have inflicted upon themselves. They are, in a word, ridiculous.<\/div>\n

As you will see, they are even giving self-awareness to machinery.\u00a0In an effort to please everyone, they will please no one.<\/div>\n

Here’s the article. Wade through it and ask yourselves if it is worth it to even try to correct such crap, mentally or physically.<\/p>\n

Here are a couple of samples from the article of these attempts to be – well, dumber than a box of rocks, and proud of it:<\/p>\n

The UH-1N was flying 10 miles northwest of Manassas on a routine training mission at an altitude of 1,000 feet when the incident occurred. It landed safely at Manassas Regional Airport west of Washington, DC, and the pilot was taken to hospital where they were treated and released, the official said. – article<\/p>\n

Such bad writing deserves a closer look. How about this version: The pilot was taken to a hospital, and was treated and released? It’s short, to the point, and still PC. The reporter’s effort at composition indicates that the helicopter was also treated and released. Poor thing! Did it have a scrape on one of the rotor blades or a chip out of the tail rudder blades?<\/p>\n

Now, this next one really knocked my socks off:\u00a0 The pilots of the US Air Force helicopter, which identified itself as Mussel 16, can be heard reporting “a medical emergency” in air traffic control audio. The aircraft initially scrapped plans to land at Manassas Regional Airport then informed controllers it would be heading “direct to Manassas.” – article<\/p>\n

No, I did not know that flying machinery had acquired the AI technology to ID itself just yet, never mind making decisions regarding route planning and independently comm-linking with air traffic control, as indicated in those two sentences.<\/p>\n

Most of us were taught good grammar and writing skills, weren’t we? And besides that, I thought it was only the Cylon Raiders that could do that self-identifying thing.\u00a0 But then, there was that over-processed and rebuilt Voyager probe that had been rebuilt and turned into a giant sentient spaceship named Veejer, whose sole aim was finding Earth and The Creator and destroying Both of Them.\u00a0 And let us not forget that the BORG (Boring Old Robot Geeks) were a collective identity of Hoomans wired to each other whether they liked it or not, and they even tried to turn Captain Picard into One of Them.<\/p>\n

And now, back to my quest for knowledge:\u00a0 Is this native tongue of ours going to be slaughtered and buried under the Slab of PC? I will give this alleged reporter a NEFF, but not demand a rewrite because whoever thinks it’s okay to murder English or any other language in the name of political correctness is nuts.<\/p>\n

As one might say in Gaelic:\u00a0 P\u00f3g mo th\u00f3in.<\/p>\n

Or one might use Icelandic, which is Old Norse modernized:\u00a0 \u00a0F\u00e1bj\u00e1ni! \u00dei\u00f0 hafi\u00f0 ey\u00f0ilagt ykkur! \u00d3\u00f0inn mun tort\u00edma \u00fe\u00e9r fyrir \u00feetta mor\u00f0 \u00e1 \u00feessu m\u00e1li!<\/span><\/p>\n
