Protesters flocked to the Justice Center and the federal courthouse in Portland again on Friday night, lighting fires and burning American flags and Bibles in the streets.<\/p>\n

According to the Portland Police, which did not engage with demonstrators, the crowd lit several fires, including a large bonfire in the middle of the street in front of the federal courthouse. One video shows protesters feeding a small fire with Bibles, which were engulfed in flames.<\/p>\n

While rioters previously attacked federal buildings, businesses, and even officers, this weekend, they found a new target: Bibles.<\/p>\n

A video posted to Twitter on Saturday shows rioters holding Black Lives Matter signs tossing Bibles into a fire. Bystanders stood and watched as the flames licked away at the pages of the books.<\/p>\n

Later in the Twitter thread, Cheong pointed out that the violent and chaotic nature of these protestors is not correlated with \u201cprotesting against police brutality.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know what burning the Bible has to do with protesting against police brutality. Do not be under the illusion that these protests and riots are anything but an attempt to dismantle all of Western Civilization and upend centuries of tradition and freedom of religion,\u201d he continued. <\/p>\n

Donald Trump Jr. also commented on the video criticizing it as an escalation of Antifa. <\/p>\n

\u201cNow we move to the book burning phase. I\u2019m pretty sure ANTIFA doesn\u2019t actually stand for what they say it stands for. Maybe just remove the anti part of [their] name and it\u2019s perfect,\u201d he wrote. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

They lay on the symbolism with a trowel, hoping to incite conservative reactions that will further their agenda. Remember lessons from SERE- in the hands of the enemy the Flag is a piece of cloth. Same for religious tomes- just paper for street theater. The paper that counts are the ballots cast in November.<\/p>\n
