Man Allegedly Swings Sword at Police Officers, Gets Shot Dead<\/strong><\/p>\n

A man allegedly armed with a sword and swinging it toward officers was shot dead by Detroit police Thursday.<\/p>\n

The Daily Mail reports that the man allegedly ignored an officer\u2019s commands to drop the sword and even went so far as to swing it while allegedly walking toward the officer.<\/p>\n

The man also allegedly had an 8-inch dagger, which he threw at an officer as well.<\/p>\n

Detroit Police Chief James Craig said, \u201cAt some point, I\u2019m not sure if it was before or after (the Taser was used), the suspect took out a second sharp object \u2026 an 8-inch dagger; threw it in the direction of the officer, striking the officer below the right eye.\u201d<\/p>\n

After the dagger was thrown, the officer\u2019s partner shot the suspect, fatally wounding him.<\/p>\n

Craig said a taser was used before resorting to lethal force, but the taser was ineffective because the man had shielded his torso with \u201csomething like what a hockey player would wear.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nMan who shot Garrett Foster at downtown Austin protest claims self-defense, attorney says<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The person who shot and killed Garrett Foster, who was participating in a protest in downtown Austin last Saturday night, has exposed his identity in an email from his attorney as Daniel Perry.<\/p>\n

In the emailed press release from F. Clinton Broden and Broden & Mickelsen, it is said that Perry\u2019s reason for shooting at Foster was solely because he felt like his life was threatened and acted in self-defense.<\/p>\n

Foster was shot Saturday night by a motorist, now identified as Perry per his attorney\u2019s email, who had just turned south onto Congress Avenue from Fourth Street and was been surprised by the number of people on the street.<\/p>\n

APD is asking anyone with relevant information on the shooting, including original video footage or images, to come forward. Currently, police have not identified Perry, or any other person related to the shooting.<\/p>\n

Preliminary reports indicate a car got caught in the crowd and was surrounded by marchers when Foster– who was legally open carrying a rifle–approached the vehicle, which Perry claims he was driving.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

3 Suspects Sought In Robbery Of Truck Driver At Travel Center In Whitfield County; Walter Mathen Captured<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Whitfield County Sheriffs Office is investigating a robbery that occurred at the Pilot Travel Center at 243 Connector 3.<\/p>\n

The robbery occurred outside of the business in the back parking lot and involved a truck driver. The truck driver was strong-armed by four white male assailants. During the struggle, the victim retrieved a handgun that he had on him and shot at one of the assailants. Once the victim began shooting, all the assailants dispersed.<\/p>\n

One of the robbers fled in a gold Chrysler Town and County van and the remaining three fled on foot.<\/p>\n

It was not known if any of the remaining three assailants had another vehicle on the property.<\/p>\n

A BOLO was broadcast for the Chrysler. Shortly after the BOLO was issued, the Georgia Department of Public Safety – Motor Carrier Compliance Division located the vehicle traveling on I-75 northbound at approximately the 341 mile marker. A traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle and the driver, Walter Wathen, 52, was taken into custody without incident.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
