For anyone that watched the hearing yesterday with Attorney General Bill Barr, we are left asking the question: “Can we reclaim our time?”<\/em><\/p>\n

For those that did not see the hearing, the entire day was a repeating pattern – Democrats would list all their grievances with Barr and when they would ask a question, it was usually framed within an accusation.\u00a0 When he started to answer, they would interrupt him and say “Reclaiming my time” which often was repeated several times and forceably.<\/p>\n

Congressman Nadler started the hearing off by reading off a list of accusations against Barr.\u00a0 This prompted some interesting social media memes.<\/p>\n

This filibuster tactic had to have been a strategy discussed before the meeting.<\/p>\n

Barr remarked one time “This is a hearing, I thought I was the one who was supposed to be heard.”<\/em><\/p>\n

The Republicans adapted to this strategy and allowed some of their time to respond to the topic once the time ran out on the previous Democratic questioner.<\/p>\n

Congressman Jordan made the point that they have been trying to get Barr to testify for months, but when he is finally here they do not allow him to answer any questions.<\/p>\n

It was a bizarre display of political gamesmanship.<\/p>\n

To top it off, late in the day Barr asked for a 5 minute recess and Nadler said “no.”\u00a0 There were some comments made by Jordan but Nadler stuck to his guns and refused.\u00a0 Barr pointed out that he waited 45 minutes for Nadler to arrive late due to a minor car accident, and Barr was not given the opportunity to have lunch, so a 5 minute break was not asking for too much.<\/p>\n

Nadler softened his position and said they were almost done.\u00a0 Barr insisted and Nadler finally relented.<\/p>\n
