Ghislaine Maxwell was arrested on charges related to Jeffrey Epstein. According to the indictment against her, Ghislaine Maxwell assisted, facilitated, and contributed to Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse of minors. The federal grand jury that generated the indictment identified her role in making it possible for Jeffrey Epstein to exploit minor girls.<\/p>\n
From CNBC:<\/span><\/p>\n Maxwell, 58, is the first person criminally charged in connection with Epstein’s alleged sexual abuse other than him.<\/p>\n The indictment accuses Maxwell of helping him in the mid-1990s recruit and groom victims under the age of 18, some as young as 14 years old, so that Epstein could sexually abuse them his residences in New York, Florida, New Mexico, and London.<\/p>\n “In some instances, Maxwell was present for and participated in the sexual abuse of minor victims,” the indictment says.<\/p>\n It also says she “repeatedly lied when questioned about her conduct” under oath during a legal deposition in 2016.<\/p>\n NBC News, citing law-enforcement sources, said that Maxwell was arrested in Bedford, New Hampshire, at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday. She is scheduled to appear in a federal court sometime Thursday.<\/p>\n Typically, a person charged in a federal criminal case is first presented in the federal district in which they were arrested, not necessarily in the district in which they are charged.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n CNBC has more information here<\/a>.
