‘I aimed at the legs because I didn’t wanna kill him’: Chili’s shooter claims self-defense<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nFOREST CITY, N.C. (WLOS) \u2014 A man involved in a Forest City shooting is telling News 13 his side of the story.<\/p>\n

The shooting happened at the Chili\u2019s off Sparks Crossing around 8 p.m. Saturday.<\/p>\n

Byron Forney said he showed up to the restaurant to eat dinner with his sister and her boyfriend. He said when he arrived, things felt a little off.<\/p>\n

\u201cI see a group of people over there in the car of the parking lot when I pulled up. I didn\u2019t know who they was,\u201d Forney said.<\/p>\n

He said, regardless, he decided to step inside the restaurant and meet up with his family.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I walked in, my sister said she was ready to go. And come to find out them was the guys that was out there, the guys that was outside, them was the ones that started everything up in the restaurant with my sister and other customers in there,\u201d Forney said.<\/p>\n

Forney said a group of men outside were yelling at him, his sister and other customers.<\/p>\n

\u201cTalking about how are you gonna wear a mask when you\u2019re sitting in there about to eat,\u201d Forney recalled.<\/p>\n

Forney said he and his sister decided to leave He said as he was walking to his car, the group of people started up again.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey kept on arguing, saying racial slurs and stuff,\u201d Forney said. \u201cThe son had hollered the N word.\u201d<\/p>\n

After exchanging words, Forney said things escalated.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe son got mad. He said, \u2018OK, I got something for you MF.\u2019 And he ran to the car. He ran to the car, and, next thing you know, he was walking up on my sister, and I just shot,\u201d Forney said.<\/p>\n

Forney said he did it to protect himself and his family.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Suspected shoplifter detained at gunpoint by citizens<\/strong><\/p>\n

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) – Two people who pointed handguns at a suspected shoplifter in Washington state and threatened to shoot her have received some cautionary advice from police: Be reasonable.<\/p>\n

A video posted on Facebook shows a woman being held at gunpoint in her car in Spokane by people who believed she stole from a store on Friday.<\/p>\n

The Spokesman-Review reported that 36-year-old Annamarie L. Kirkpatrick was cited for shoplifting, a gross misdemeanor.<\/p>\n

Video taken by bystanders shows a man and a woman drew their handguns and pointed them at the woman as she sat in her car.<\/p>\n

Neither the man nor the woman with a gun have been charged with a crime, according to police.<\/p>\n

Under Washington law, any person who aims a firearm at a person, whether loaded or not, is guilty of a gross misdemeanor.<\/p>\n

Police spokesman Terry Preuninger said citizens are accountable for the level of force they use.<\/p>\n

When police officers use force, it is related to the severity of the incident, Preuninger said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe just want to remind people you\u2019ve got to be reasonable and prudent,\u201d Preuninger said. \u201cYou have to make sure that the use of force that you\u2019re prepared to use is reasonable in the context of the situation you\u2019re in.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nThe \u201cView\u201d hosts found a foe to pick on who wasn\u2019t Meghan McCain.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday\u2019s edition of the morning-show gabfest, Whoopi Goldberg, Sunny Hostin, Joy Behar and McCain were all in agreement that the St. Louis couple brandishing firearms Sunday at Black Lives Matter demonstrators outside their opulent home had overreacted.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I were protesters, I would not appreciate having an AR-15 headed my way or a woman who seems crazed with her finger on the trigger,\u201d Behar said of Mark and Patricia McCloskey, married personal-injury lawyers in their 60s. \u201cI would not enjoy that at all. I don\u2019t think any of these protesters had weapons.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Mark McCloskey contends that the protesters destroyed a gate into the ritzy enclave, video shows protesters holding open the gate before streaming through, according to St. Louis TV station KSDK.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
