Man fatally shot in apparent case of self-defense in Moreno Valley<\/strong><\/p>\n

In an apparent case of self-defense, a man was fatally shot during a family disturbance in Moreno Valley on Sunday morning, officials said.<\/p>\n

Deputies arrived at 1:15 a.m. to a home in the 23700 block of Blackbird Circle to a report of a family altercation, the Riverside County Sheriff\u2019s Department said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAn estranged family (member) arrived at the location and broke into the residence while threatening to cause harm to the occupants,\u201d a sheriff\u2019s statement said. \u201cThe occupants confronted the estranged family member who became hostile. During the altercation, a resident used a firearm against the assailant.\u201d<\/p>\n

Deputies found Cesar Acosta, 43, of Moreno Valley suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken by paramedics to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt this point, the shooting appears to have been done in self-defense,\u201d the sheriff\u2019s statement said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Police identify man described as armed intruder killed at Springfield home<\/strong><\/p>\n

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Police identified a man, described as an armed intruder, shot and killed at a home in north Springfield late Friday night.<\/p>\n

Officers responded to the 2400 block of North Fremont around 10:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

Investigators say Kenneth L. Clay, 36, of Springfield tried to enter the home of David R. Jones, 18. Jones told investigators Clay shot him in the foot. He then shot Clay with his own firearm, killing him.<\/p>\n

Investigators say no arrests have been made. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Parent shoots son during North Freedom home invasion<\/strong>

Parents in North Freedom were forced to protect themselves by firing a gun at their son, who allegedly shot in the windows of their home and went into the house with his own weapon, according to a press release from Sauk County Sheriff Chip Meister.<\/p>\n

At about 3:45 a.m. Monday, deputies responded to a call from one of the parents at 113 South Oak Street. Dispatch officers were told the intruder and homeowner were shooting at one another. When they arrived, officers saw the shot-out windows. They deduced the man had shot out a side patio door to get into the house from a deck facing Willow Street.<\/p>\n

Deputies found the son on the ground with numerous gunshot wounds and the parents uninjured in the home when they arrived, according to the release.<\/p>\n

Initial investigation showed that the unnamed 37-year-old son came to the home and began shooting out windows to try to get into the residence. Windows were smashed in and bullet holes lined the siding of the building. The parents went to the basement as the man made his way into the home and \u201cfired numerous rounds inside\u201d which prompted him to reload the weapon.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
