\nA Texas corner store clerk shot and killed a robbery suspect Monday night who allegedly first fired at him after trying to pass a counterfeit $20 bill, according to reports.<\/p>\n

The Houston Police Department responded to calls about a robbery taking place at the Super Qwik Food Store off Fulton Street and Julia near the North Freeway around 10 p.m.<\/p>\n

By the time officers arrived at the scene, a man had been shot and was transported to the hospital, where he later died.<\/p>\n

\u201cLuckily and fortunately for the convenience store clerk, he had a gun with him. He was able to return fire,\u201d Houston Police Sgt. J. Horn told KHOU. \u201cThe suspect or the robber collapsed here at the store. He was transported to the hospital where he died later.\u201d<\/p>\n

The man, who has not been identified by authorities, allegedly tried to use a counterfeit $20 to make a purchase, but the clerk told him he could not accept the bill, KTRK reported.<\/p>\n

Police said the robbery suspect then made his way into the clerk\u2019s secured area, pulled out a gun and fired at him at least once within close range, narrowly missing him.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

14-year-old boy fatally shot in robbery attempt <\/strong><\/p>\n

\nA 14-year-old boy was fatally shot after he tried to rob someone near the Canal Walk in Downtown Indianapolis early Monday, police say.<\/p>\n

The Marion County coroner’s office on Monday identified the boy as Curtis White Jr.<\/p>\n

“According to investigators, it appears the 14-year-old was trying to rob the alleged shooter,” Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officer Samone Burris said in an email to IndyStar Monday.<\/p>\n

The shooting suspect remained on the scene and cooperated with investigators, Burris said. Police also interviewed several witnesses.<\/p>\n

The incident, among more than a dozen area shootings over the weekend, happened shortly after 2 a.m. in the 600 block of Ellsworth Street, which is on the canal north of West Michigan Street and Indiana Avenue.<\/p>\n

Officers found White wounded by apparent gunshots. Medics took him to an area hospital, where he later died.<\/p>\n

A large group of juveniles were in the area at the time of the shooting, officials said. Officers were already patrolling nearby after receiving multiple disturbance calls, police said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Port St. Lucie police say woman hit by vehicle shoots driver through windshield<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nPORT ST. LUCIE \u2014 Port St. Lucie police are investigating a weekend incident in which a man is accused of driving a vehicle at a woman, who then shot the man in the chest, according to police on Monday.<\/p>\n

The incident happened about 10 p.m. Saturday in the 3500 block of Southwest Rosardo Street, said Senior Sgt. Lisa Marie Carrasquillo, police spokeswoman. The location is west of Florida\u2019s Turnpike near Southwest Port St. Lucie and Southwest Tulip boulevards.<\/p>\n

Carrasquillo said no arrests have been made, and the man is expected to recover.<\/p>\n

Investigators determined an argument happened between a man and woman. The man reportedly saw two women unpacking a vehicle and attacked one of the women.<\/p>\n

The other woman went inside for help, and a third woman came out with a gun.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
