Cleveland resident fatally shoots alleged burglar; police investigating<\/strong>
\nPolice say the man who was shot was a former tenant at the home, but had no connections to the current occupant.<\/em><\/p>\n

CLEVELAND \u2014 The Cleveland Division of Police is investigating the shooting death of a 40-year-old man.<\/p>\n

Officials responded to a home in the 3300 block of East 137th Street around 9: 20 a.m. for a call indicating a burglary and shooting. At the scene, the victim found shot inside the home and later died at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. He has since been identified as Lavar Overton.<\/p>\n

Witnesses tell police Overton had broken into the home and was fatally shot by the resident, also a 40-year-old man. Police say Overton was a former tenant at the home, but had no connections to the current occupant.<\/p>\n

The resident left the location after the shooting, but later turned himself in to police. He was questioned and released.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

2 men fatally shot after breaking into Long Beach home; 1 suspect knew resident, police say<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nTwo men were shot dead after breaking into the home of a person one of them knew in Long Beach early Tuesday morning, police said.<\/p>\n

A resident on the 1000 block of Almond Court, near 11th Street, reported around 12:10 a.m. that he\u2019d opened fire on an intruder, Long Beach police said in a news release.<\/p>\n

Officers who responded to the scene found 18-year-old Jose Perez of Long Beach inside the home with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso. Sergio Pacheco, a 25-year-old Long Beach man, was found laying in the street with gunshot wounds to his upper torso a few blocks away, on the 1100 block of Gundry Avenue, according to investigators.<\/p>\n

Paramedics attempted life-saving measures, but the men died at the scene, officials said.<\/p>\n

An earlier statement from Long Beach police provided incorrect information on the locations where officers found the men, police said Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Both Pacheco and Perez are considered suspects in the break-in.<\/p>\n

Pacheco and one of the home\u2019s residents \u201cwere at one time associates,\u201d detectives said in the news release. The Police Department declined to provide further details on the nature of their relationship.<\/p>\n

Investigators believe the two slain men arrived at the home unannounced, forced their way in and assaulted two people inside. The resident then grabbed a gun and opened fire, officials said.<\/p>\n

Police say Perez collapsed in the street while fleeing the scene.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Homeowner shoots man who came to his home to collect a debt<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nSAN ANTONIO – San Antonio Police responded to calls for a shooting Sunday just after 7:00 p.m. at the 14200 block of Short Horn Drive on the far Northeast side of San Antonio.<\/p>\n

When officers arrived at the location, they found a man in his 30s who had been shot multiple times in his body outside of the home and a twenty-something man inside the home who had been stabbed. The shooting victim was taken to SAMMC in critical condition and the stabbing victim was transported to Northeast Methodist in stable condition.<\/p>\n

Police say that a man came to the home to collect a debt, then a fight broke out between the two people. The debt collector pulled out a knife and stabbed the homeowner, and then the homeowner pulled out a gun and shot the debt collector three times.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
