That may be small, but in order to inject it, a needle (a hollow steel tube) that is used to inject it under kitty’s skin has to accommodate that size requirement.

There’s no fluid involved in microchipping a cat (or a dog), it’s just injected under the skin, usually between the shoulders. You would definitely notice a needle that big. The needle used for vaccines is considerably smaller so that the poor soul who is getting the flu shot won’t slide off the chair in a dead faint.

Believe me, anything that large would be painful to inject and noticeable and no, it would not just “disappear” into nothing. You’d have a lump under your skin that might or might not dissolve. The bump will still be there, probably drive you nuts scratching it, but easily removed with a local anesthetic and a sharp scalpel. And you’d have an opportunity to not only faint, but fill the doc’s sink with your stomach contents, too. You might want to have a couple of ammonia ampules with you in that case.

It’s called a microchip because the chip itself is small, but it carries as much info about Kitty or Rover to let the finder of a lost dog or cat contact animal control and get the critter returned. That’s what microchips do. It has nothing to do with the physical size of the thing. There are hundreds of thousands of microchips in your phone, your computer, your modem, your cameras, your car, your credit card, and you don’t even know they are there. And the ID chip in Poochie or Pussnboots doesn’t transmit anything to anywhere. The RFID signal doesn’t work that way. Transmissions require juice. Voltage. Ain’t none in those.

If I hide like this no one can see me

There’s another part of this that the rumor/fear mongers forget: if you get a flu shot, you have to get it every year to avoid whatever version of the flu virus is floating around in the world. This is because the flu viruses shift their genes every cotton pickin’ year, sometimes combining with other flu viruses to start a new strain. That was what happened with swine flu and also bird flu. New RNA meant a new species of virus. New vaccine had to be whipped up to block it. Even so, both of them still got into the population because it takes time to produce the vaccine for distribution to the public.

The CV19 bug is similar, with a whole group of differentiated corona viruses as relatives, and that means that you will probably have to get a CV vaxx every fall, just like you get your flu shot. Now, what would be the point to putting a microchip into that if you have to change the vaxx every year? That is ridiculous, and typical of people who enjoy cooking up paranoid fantasies. They’ve probably watched too many Bond movies or Jason Bourne stuff, where the spy gets a ID chip and says “Ow.” https://www.bustle.com/articles/121392-could-smart-blood-exist-like-in-spectre-its-not-here-yet-but-that-doesnt-mean-it The RFID chip doesn’t give out tracking info. It can’t broadcast a signal. That is way far down the road. Even if something is implanted it is for ID purposes only, which is why your Browser or Sneakypaws should have one in case either of them gets out the door for a date with that fine poodle or catgirl down the street before you can stop him. The cops may bring him home, looking bedraggled, but he’ll have “that look” on his face that…. well, never mind.

These paranoid fantasies are the same thing I saw when infrared film first became available to the public as an off the shelf product that anyone could buy. I knew a guy who was so paranoid about being followed that when he found out about infrared film and its attributes, which allowed a police investigator to follow recent tracks in bad weather or determine how recently a crime might have been committed, something that might otherwise have disappeared, he nearly had a stroke over it. He did not believe that infrared could not ID anyone, but instead could only indicate that someone had been in some specific spot.

So this ridiculous notion that a microchip with a “tracking device” will fit into a needle with a gauge so small it can only dispense vaccination liquids does not bear close examination. And let’s remember that, as with the annual flu shot, the CV19 virus has buddies in its own spectrum and being a virus, will exchange RNA with them and form a new strain, so that a new vaccine will have to be made every year to keep it from infecting the population. And there is absolutely nothing that says a coronavirus cannot exchange RNA with an influenza virus, if they want to do cross-species translation.

Kind of like Klingons getting together with Vulcans, isn’t it?

The needle for the flu shot (and most injectable vaxxes) is 22 to 25 gauge, extremely fine to avoid a painful shot. The larger the gauge, the smaller the tube. So how is a microchip going to fit into that? And before you spout “oh, well, they can probably make them that small” so that you can panic again, try to remember that the NSA, in its decision to use all aspects of information available, can track everything you say or text on your phone or tablet. So why in the blue-eyed, daisy-sprouting world would anyone need or want to stick a microchip under your skin that can’t transmit info or do anything but ID you?

And just what is it that makes these paranoid people think that they won’t notice the size of the needle, or that anyone is really interested in tracking them anywhere in the first place? Is this some latent guilt trip left over from when they had dirty didees and didn’t tell Mommy?

They are as boring as you can get; they have nothing important to say; and they annoy the rest of us like the local look-at-me idiot who shows up solely to get attention. And don’t give me that ‘they can make them so small!” stuff, because you aren’t going to be “beeped” at the entrance to the grocery store or Walmart or the hardware store any time soon. Not even at the airport, where they screen everyone. The airport screeners have new equipment that coincides with the CV19 appearance, but even they can’t ID you or where you think you’re going without looking at your ID or passport and tickets and luggage, and whatever personal entertainment toys you’re dragging along with you won’t matter to them at all.

If you’re really worried about being tracked, give up your iPhone or whatever and stick to landlines and those things they used to call phone booths, and don’t carry a tablet or a laptop named “Susie” with you. Just leave all that electronic junk at home, and bring along a paperback book on some subject like a Mike Hammer mystery or a sci-fi novel. It costs a lot less to replace an Isaac Asimov paperback than it does any of that electronic junk. And paperbacks weigh a lot less, too. You might even get more conversation if you have a copy of Tolkien’s “Beowulf” translation: https://www.amazon.com/Beowulf-Translation-Commentary-J-R-R-Tolkien/dp/0544570308 Or you could just snark along with Katherine Kerr’s fantasy series about the imaginary Kingdom of Deverry, or George Morrow’s Game of Thrones…. or maybe even a copy of Richard III.

I hope that relieves some of your interweb anxieties.

To relieve the internet-acquired anxiety syndrome regarding the CV19 vaxx, and the rumors that it will … In Case You’re Concerned About Being… well, uh… Tracked….Read more

[220

post-100439","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-the-floggings-will-continue-until-morale-improves
["GET
