In Honor of Doomsday Tomorrow . . . .
I wonder how popular the original version of this song will be tonight and tomorrow?
That’s great, world’s end December date, feathered snake looks so damn great
True believers not afraid
Date from a Mayan Rock, took years to learn their talk
World doesn’t give a care, dummy don’t be so scared.
No it’s not just BS, grunt
No strength the ladder starts to clatter with the fear, jump from heights.
Won’t end in fire, or stuck in the mire seven miles from a government for hire and Obamacare
Turn Left bow down it’s coming in a hurry furies breathing down your neck.
Team by team reporters bored, tramp tramp show their scorn.
Look at that dumbass shaking! Oh well
Uh oh, overflow, no space in the safety zone but it’ll do.
Save yourself, leave yourself.
World serves its own needs, does that make your heart bleed?
No this ain’t the rapture and the reverend ain’t right – right.
You idiotic, vitriolic, fool who’s not real bright,
Feeling pretty psyched. It’s the end of some squirrels and they know it.
It’s the end of some squirrels and they know it.
It’s the end of some squirrels and they know it,And I dont’ mind.
Yeah, not one of my better efforts. Makes as much sense as the original, though.
I understand France has started blocking access zone to the “safety zone” at Pic de Bugarach because of an excess of gullible idiots. At least the French are getting this one right.
All the “true believers” are going to be really pissed when they find out that tiny missing fragment right at the end of the stone translated as “rinse and repeat”. (smile)
PS: Don’t like the above? Bite me, Stipe. It’s called parody.
(Author’s note: edited to provide IMO a more apropos chorus.)

Eagle tries to snatch child
Obviously, we need some sort of government legislation that would prevent these raptors from trying to steal our children;

Army won’t punish NCO for upside down flag

SFC Melissa L. Cos thought it would be a good idea to fly an American flag upside down in the front yard of her private home in Copenhagen, NY a satellite community of Fort Drum to protest the reelection of the President according to the Watertown Daily Times.
On Monday a neighbor, John H. Drewes, told the Times that his wife visited Sgt. Coss about a week earlier after seeing the flags upside down, and was told by Sgt. Coss that the reason for the display, done shortly after the Nov. 6 general election, was to protest President Obama’s re-election.
Lt. Col. David A. Konop, division public affairs officer, said the soldier, who he would not identify by name, rank or unit, was talked to by their chain of command, but would not say which level of leadership talked with the soldier. He added that the upside down flags were taken down later that day.
The protest could have been punished under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, primarily Article 134, which punishes speech and conduct that would affect good order and discipline or bring discredit upon the armed forces.
Poor judgement on SFC Coss’ part, good judgement on the Army’s part. There are many ways to express your displeasure with the outcome of the election and an upside down flag is probably the worst way to do it. Besides, SFC Coss is supposed to respect the office of the President, her Commander-in-chief, if not the occupant.
Good judgement by SFC Coss to take the flags down when the Army told her to fix the problem. I wouldn’t have done the deed in the first place, but because of my problem with authority, I might have put up a struggle and suffered the consequences.
The Army probably could have punished her, but it might have been a tough case if she’d decided to take it to court martial. And since it was on her own property, it might have caused some dissension in the ranks, so PR-wise it was probably smart of the Army to take that course.

Married to the Army: Alaska is now airing.
Well last year I talked about how there was going to be a reality TV show about the Army wives of Alaska. Well it looks like it is now airing. Here is a list of the seven wives that are taking part.
OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network will give viewers unprecedented access into the complex challenges, personal sacrifices and extraordinary lives of military families through the eyes of seven Army Wives living in Alaska whose husbands deployed to Afghanistan in the new docu-series “Married to the Army: Alaska” premiering Sunday, November 18 from 10-11 p.m. ET/PT before moving to its regular timeslot on Mondays from 10-11 p.m. ET/PT beginning on November 19.
All I can think of from the preview is that his is a very sanitized image of military life. It is almost like they are trying to recreate the Army Wives format. This is a bad idea then and it is a bad idea now. Because there is a LOT of drama that happens in family life and some of it would make the Army look bad. What you ask. Well as a sample I can use the time that our street section was blocked off because a unidentified resident had a meth lab in the basement of their on post housing. Or how about when one your wife’s friends comes over with their marriage drama and brings in my then immediate Squad Leader’s NCO and NCOIC of our section to deal with the issues in question. Or how about hearing all the fights that the neighbors have with each other through paper thin walls. Or even better how a married couple tried avoid the deployment by having the wife pretend to leave the Husband with a child in Alaska. When he was taken off the roster she came back a few days later with the story that the had made up between each other. Because this is the stuff that Big Army wants to bring out in the open? No? So I have to wonder what happens when the camera crews run into these situations? Do they look the other way for something more trivial like the wife who is grossed out by having to clean up moose nuggets in the yard?
Again who thought this was a good idea again? Really?
Update: For some reason people are buying into this as a real view into Army Life as a wife.
Here is a somewhat better review of the show.

Actions Provoke Reactions
The two ladies involved in l’affair Petraeus seem to be finding out firsthand the truth of the above title.
Looks as if the Army has decided to suspend the security clearance of Petraeus’ alleged mistress, Paula Broadwell. No specific reason was given for the suspension. However, based on what’s come out I’d guess it was the combination of alleged adultery and computer harassment.
Both behaviors are kinda regarded as “no-no’s” for Army officers. Broadwell is a member of the US Army Reserve – a MI officer holding the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, to be precise. Having one’s security clearance suspended is a significant issue impacting one’s ability to serve as a MI officer.
However, at least one source is reporting that a recent search found “substantial classified information” on a computer used by Broadwell. That could also be the reason for the Army suspending her security clearance. Mishandling classified info is also a rather big “no-no” for an Army officer – especially an MI officer who presumably would definitely know better.
Separately, MacDill AFB has apparently decided to suspend unrestricted base access privileges previously granted to Jill Kelley. No specific reason was given for this action either.
It will be interesting to see how these play out over time.
