  • Where was VoteVets on Kerry’s tax return?

    The other day, TSO wrote about Jon Soltz’ appearance on some derelict’s show on MSNBC calling for Mitt Romney to release his tax returns. Dicksmith wrote about it calling it “The Battle of the 1%“. They framed their complaint with some blathering bullshit about how veterans cared about Mitt’s tax returns.

    But now that Romney’s tax returns have been released, they’re strangely silent. It might be because of this link that TSO sent me yesterday to a Washington Post article about the historical tax rates of Presidential candidates. It seems that John Kerry, arguably the richest man to run for the office of President, paid the least percentage of his income as taxes;

    So, of course the reason the brainless morons at VoteVets didn’t say anything about Kerry’s tax returns is because they weren’t in existence yet, they were founded in 2006, but the question still remains. This is me holding my breath waiting for a response from the 99% at VoteVets.

  • Dicksmith meets my expectations

    The other day, I put in the comments that I was waiting for dicksmith to write a post at VetVoice before I commented on Allen West’s statement about the urination video and, like clockwork, dicksmith couldn’t resist calling the former Lieutenant Colonel a “war criminal”.

    I’ve never made a secret about how I feel about war criminal Allen West, a disgraced former military commander who supervised and participated in the savage torture of an Iraqi detainee. So when I read a statement like the one above from Allen West, as someone who has been shot at by the Taliban I have to respond.

    “Savage torture”? Really? LTC West merely fired a handgun in proximity to a captured prisoner (into a clearing barrel) to make that prisoner think he was being executed, which induced the prisoner to give actionable intelligence related to a planned ambush on LTC West’s troops. West’s commander decided that the incident warranted only non-judicial punishment and West was fined $5000, then he retired. So that’s “savage torture” in dicksmith’s world.

    So Allen West made the following statement in regards to the Marines’ video;

    As for everyone else, unless you have been shot at by the Taliban, shut your mouth, war is hell.

    West prefaced that statement with a recommendation that the Marines be punished with non-judicial punishment. His statement above was meant to quell the media frenzy which swirled around the video – not excuse the behavior. Taken in it’s entirety with out selective editing, West meant for his statement to admit the seriousness of the crime, but also to end the liberal hand-wringing about how we’re creating more terrorists and making the troops less safe.

    dicksmith concludes;

    I have been shot at by the Taliban, Congressman West. And it doesn’t mean I’m okay with what these Marines did or that they should get just a slap on wrist. How about this for a new rule:
    Unless you haven’t been charged with abusing detainees, shut your mouth. War is hell, but that doesn’t give anyone the excuse to act like the enemy.

    West certainly didn’t say it was alright to abuse the bodies of our dead enemies, and he was telling the media to shut up and to quit making this a bigger story than it should be, if dicksmith didn’t understand that, he shouldn’t be putting his paper-thin, mud puddle-deep intellect as analysis on the internet.

  • VetVoice on UriNation video

    dicksmith writes about the video we discussed last night which depicted five soldiers as they urinated on and filmed some dead Taliban soldiers.

    But what is clear is that these Marines’ leaders did not instill in them the regulations they were to follow, the importance of those regulations to the mission and how doing something like this can adversely affect the mission and fuel the insurgency. Endless war causes a degradation of leadership. It becomes more clear with each new scandal that this is undoubtedly happening to our military.

    I disagree, of course…I wouldn’t blame their leaders. If this was a team of snipers, as news reports suggest, they’re probably accustomed to working outside the immediate reach of their leadership. They knew that what they were doing is wrong, and they did it anyway.

    But one thing I noticed in dicksmith’s missive; when Brandon Friedman wrote about Abu Ghraib, probably a similar incident, Friedman always blamed the Bush Administration for leadership failures.

    Now, if dicksmith wanted to be consistent with VoteVet editorial policy, he should probably blame the Obama Administration for their contribution to this incident. I’m pretty sure that Joe Biden sent out directives for the troops to piss on the dead enemy…it sounds as effective as dividing up Iraq to force peace on them, and pinning our hopes in Afghanistan on robot ninja zombies. Of course, my theory falls apart since Biden doesn’t think that the Taliban are the enemy…but I’d call for an investigation anyway.

  • VetVoice and reality

    Dicksmith has been on vacation – I wonder how you run a blog and take a vacation, but he’s been at it longer than I have, so he must know better. But, his first post of the new year reports about the Iranian threats to US presence in the Persian Gulf, like many blogs did yesterday, but of course, he uses it as an excuse to attack the Republicans who were campaigning in Iowa.

    Hearing nearly all of those who look to be President within of the US within a year repeatedly and enthusiastically champion the idea of a war with Iran isn’t going to make them act any less erratically. It only encourages actions like the threat to close the straight of Hormuz and making overt threats against US service members and their vessels. Such rhetoric is irresponsible, shows a lack of understanding of foreign policy and a disregard for the lives of those serving in the region.

    I know it’s hard to decipher that paragraph, but in a nutshell, dicksmith thinks that the rhetoric of the candidates is dangerous to the delicate balance of diplomacy between the US and Iran. He talks of “a lack of understanding of foreign policy and a disregard for the lives of those serving in the region”.

    I’d say the lack of understanding is those on the Left who don’t understand that Iran is already waging war against us and we’re too naive to admit it. And the disregard for the lives of the troops in the region is also from the left who haven’t been able to summon the testicular fortitude required to stop the Iranians from striking at the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan using proxies.

    I’ve yet to see a post from dicksmith criticizing Joe Bite Me for his comment that the Taliban isn’t the enemy, which is the height of naivete. However, if one of the Republican candidates hinted the same, he’d have a blaring headline and tough talk language, wrapping himself in his military service and feigning outrage.

    We’ve been at war with Iran through the terms of six presidents who’ve all looked in the other direction while the hits keep coming. Now we’re staring down the barrel of a nuclear Iran and still no one is worried about them and all are unwilling to stop Iran.

    And dicksmith is just as willing to pussy out all for the sake of politics.

  • VoteVets wants your guns

    TSO sent us this video from VoteVets in which dicksmith tells us that our gun laws are helping terrorists buy guns and he advocates “closing the terror gap” in our gun laws;

    I don’t know how they plan to stop potential terrorists from buying weapons when they’re not on a terror watch list and fully qualified to buy guns. Is he saying that gun dealers should profile? Somehow, I don’t think so.

    While I’m all for preventing terrorists from arming themselves using our own gun laws against us, I don’t see a solution that doesn’t prevent the rest of us from buying guns. And I certainly don’t trust the polesmokers at VoteVets to participate in constructing any restrictions with their known connections to MoveOn and George Soros.

  • He’s back

    We welcome Major Jon Soltz back from his tour of Iraq, but it’s especially nice that he’s still the political hack he was before he left. He says that Lynn Chaney is spitting on the troops…what would you call all of that shit he did after his first three month tour of Iraq?

    I remember at the Yearly Kos in 2007, Soltz tried to “lock up” a young sergeant who had just returned from Iraq and tried to discredit the things Soltz and Wesley Clarke were saying against the Bush Administration’s handling of the war. Soltz acted like mealy-mouthed newbie 2LT screaming and demanding to know the young Iraq veterans’ name. That’s not spitting on that soldier’s service? Especially since the young sergeant had been in Iraq since Soltz had finished his three month tour there.

    Just the other day, dicksmith called Iraq “Nearly nine years of pointless war….” That’s not spitting on the troops and what they accomplished there?

  • Strandlof occupies Denver

    Yeah, the dude wearing a tent over his head is Rick Strandlof the phony gay Marine captain, former member and mental health counselor of the IVAW and paid campaigner for VoteVets-chosen candidates.

    The last time we heard from him, he was impersonating a Jewish lawyer. Now, not surprisingly, according to the Denver Post, he’s supporting shiftless hippies.

    Thanks to James for the link.

  • VetVoice opposes Hermann Cain

    Yes, I’m surprised, too, that VoteVets opposes a Republican presidential candidate since they’ve supported one Republican in their entire history which proves to them they’re nonpartisan. But it was their last line in dicksmith’s latest screed against the man he calls “The Pizza President”;

    So everyone, if you want to vote for the know-nothing President, Herm is your man. Personally, I’d rather have a Commander-in-Chief that can actually find things on a map and have an iota of knowledge about the most important foreign policy issues of our day.

    That’s funny, because in the last election VoteVets supported a man who didn’t know that there were only 50 states. A guy who thinks that Hawaii, his home state, is in Asia. A guy who thinks “Austrian” is a language. A guy who thought he was in St Louis while he was in Kansas City. A guy who saw “an unbroken line of fallen heroes” in the audience. A guy who counted ten thousand people who died in a tornado that killed twelve people.

    But, yeah, don’t vote for the guy who wants to get his foreign policy from the commanders on the ground instead vote for the guy who formulates his foreign policy from an opinion poll.
