  • Salon’s Neo-nazi rush job

    The other night I mentioned Salon’s Matt Kennard and his hastily assembled Neo-Nazis are in the Army now in relation to Geof Millard, IVAW’s self-styled racism expert. Oh, did I say hastily assembled? Actually it was merely an edited version of the same article Kennard wrote last summer. It didn’t get much attention then, but I remember reading it.

    I guess Kennard and Salon and the entire Leftosphere thought it was a good time to resurrect the POS article in reaction to the shooting last week at the Holocaust Museum to stir up the moonbats.

    All Kennard did was retype the introduction – he used the same interviews, the same stale facts that didn’t impress anyone last year, but with James von Brunn still fresh on everyone’s mind, the stale story found new life.

    Here’s the opening paragraph of the “new” article;

    On a muggy Florida evening in 2008, I meet Iraq War veteran Forrest Fogarty in the Winghouse, a little bar-restaurant on the outskirts of Tampa, his favorite hangout. He told me on the phone I would recognize him by his skinhead.

    And, a screen cap of the old article he wrote last September;
    kennard-fogarty

    New beginning paragraph and the news is new again – if you throw in a dash of a shooting at the Holocaust Museum.

    In both articles Kennard drew on last year’s FBI report. He takes the FBI report a step further than the FBI intended, though;

    Following an investigation of white supremacist groups, a 2008 FBI report declared: “Military experience — ranging from failure at basic training to success in special operations forces — is found throughout the white supremacist extremist movement.” In white supremacist incidents from 2001 to 2008, the FBI identified 203 veterans. Most of them were associated with the National Alliance and the National Socialist Movement, which promote anti-Semitism and the overthrow of the U.S. government, and assorted skinhead groups.

    See – 203 veterans in seven years. But Kennard goes a bit further and beclowns himself;

    Because the FBI focused only on reported cases, its numbers don’t include the many extremist soldiers who have managed to stay off the radar.

    But what the report actually says is;

    A review of FBI white supremacist extremist cases from October 2001 to May 2008 identified 203 individuals with confirmed or claimed military service active in the extremist movement at some time during the reporting period.

    Nothing about “reported cases” – confirmed or claimed military service. We know what “claimed military service” is here at This Ain’t Hell, don’t we? The FBI report continues;

    Although the count of 203 includes persons with unverified military backgrounds—some of whom may have inflated their resumes with fictional military experience to impress others within the movement….

    The FBI actually says there were probably fewer veterans, but Kennard says there were probably more veterans in racist organizations. Nice try, though, Kennard. Learn to read, buddy.

    The only thing remotely new in the latest article was the thoroughly discredited and withdrawn DHS report. He quotes the most egregious line from the report;

    “The willingness of a small percentage of military personnel to join extremist groups during the 1990s because they were disgruntled, disillusioned, or suffering from the psychological effects of war is being replicated today.”

    The “small percentage of military personnel” had only one example in the DHS report – Timothy McVeigh who used none of the skills he learned as a Bradley gunner with the 1st Infantry Division when he bombed the building in Oklahoma City. But that line sounded good to Kennard, so he included it.

    So basically all Kennard did was recycle the article he wrote last year, slapped in some newer, discredited report and put it up on Salon to whip the Leftists into a frenzy in the wake of the von Brunn murder. Never miss an opportunity to take advantage of a tragedy.

  • Pick a story, Millard

    I’m sure my regular readers will remember Geof Millard who I spent some bandwidth on last year. It seems he’s playing the part of my whack-a-mole again. Thanks to reader Mary who dropped off a link to a Salon.com story which warns that “Neo-Nazis Are in the Army Now“. It’s a fairly poorly researched article that ignores the facts to project fantastic stories – much like Jon Soltz and the rest of the Left does these days.

    But, of course, when they’re having a tough time finding someone to tattle on the military, the Leftists at Salon go to IVAW, and Geof Millard is IVAW’s self proclaimed expert on racism in the military. He’s been telling a story since before Winter Soldier, as quoted by Aaron Glatz;

    That evening, Millard said he was in a briefing where the chain of command was informed of the shooting.

    “After the officer in charge briefed it to the general in a very calm manner, a commander turned in his chair to the entire division-level staff, and he said—and I quote—‘If these f——g hajis learned to drive, this s–t wouldn’t happen.’”

    Millard said he looked around the room at the other officers and the other enlisted men, mostly higher ranking than himself. “I didn’t see one dissenting body language, one disagreeing head nod,” he said. “Everyone was in agreement that it’s true, if these f—–g hajis learned to drive, this s–t wouldn’t happen. I couldn’t believe it, but it was true. That stayed with me the rest of my tour.”

    Well, just for Salon, Millard changed the story a bit;

    Geoffrey Millard, an organizer for Iraq Veterans Against the War, served in Iraq for 13 months, beginning in 2004, as part of the 42nd Infantry Division. He recalls Gen. George Casey, who served as the commander in Iraq from 2004 to 2007, addressing a briefing he attended in the summer of 2005 at Forward Operating Base, outside Tikrit. “As he walked past, he was talking about some incident that had just happened, and he was talking about how ‘these stupid fucking hajjis couldn’t figure shit out.’ And I’m just like, Are you kidding me? This is Gen. Casey, the highest-ranking guy in Iraq, referring to the Iraqi people as ‘fucking hajjis.’” (A spokesperson for Casey, now the Army Chief of Staff, said the general “did not make this statement.”)

    “The military is attractive to white supremacists,” Millard says, “because the war itself is racist.”

    Now, it’s General Casey, and he just passed by Millard and made the statement. Funny how much better it sounds now that phony soldier Millard has had 18 months to work on his narrative, ain’t it? I know it didn’t happen because the General Casey version would have made it to the Winter Soldier testimony – and it didn’t.

    First of all, there’s nothing offensive about the word “hadji”. Proof? OK, here’s a picture I took in Bethesda, MD last year. Bethesda is the most politically-correct town in the country – would they tolerate this on Wisconsin Avenue (the main street that leads to Georgetown in DC)?

    Hadji's

    Secondly, Millard; pick a story and stick to it – this is too easy. can’t you give me a challenge? Millard began by lying about his backpain in the Army and when he couldn’t get a medical retirement, he went AWOL and got busted for it – then he promoted himself to sergeant again and gave himself a stack of medals all after he got out and forged his DD214 to reflect the cool stuff. He also broke the first rule of This Ain’t Hell – he awarded himself a CIB that he didn’t earn. So why is Salon bothering to interview him? Because he brings them the message they want to hear.

    We’ll have more on the Salon article later, I promise. It’s a pretty long piece, and I’ve got some links to find.

  • Panetta: Cheney hoping for terrorist attack

    I’m sure you’ve heard that our new CIA director, Leon Panetta, claimed in an upcoming New Yorker magazine interview that it seems that former Vice President Dick Cheney talks as if he’s hoping for another terrorist attack on the US. From the Washington Times;

    CIA Director Leon Panetta says former Vice President Dick Cheney’s criticism of the Obama administration’s approach to terrorism almost suggests the former vice president would be glad of a major terrorist attack as vindicating his criticism of President Obama.

    “I think he smells some blood in the water on the national security issue,” Mr. Panetta said in an interview published in the New Yorker magazine’s June 22 issue.

    Well, I wonder if Panetta was hoping the war in Iraq against al Qeada would fail when he wrote the following paragraph in a commentary from his Leon Panetta Institute entitled “Surge Not Working as Hoped”;

    In our report, the Iraq Study Group concluded that “because none of the operations conducted by U.S. and Iraq military forces are fundamentally changing the conditions encouraging the sectarian violence, U.S. forces seem to be caught in a mission that has no foreseeable end.”

    In fact, the Panetta Institute has provided us with a whole internet page of his criticisms of the Bush Administration. Can we assume that Leon Panetta was hoping the Bush Administration would fail?

    Did any of the CIA directors under President Bush state that criticism of the Administration was an expression of hope we would be attacked again? I guess that’s the problem when you hire a politician to do a sheepdog‘s job.

    Vice President Cheney is merely defending the policies of his administration. If Panetta is so sensitive, maybe he should go back to tossing stones at glass houses from the safety of his nondescript “institute” instead of living in a glass house.

  • Compare news

    This is news;

    Obama does what his Jew owners tell him to do.

    This is not news;

    Them Jews aren’t going to let him talk to me.

    Well, at least Wright and von Brunn have found common ground from which they can begin the healing.

  • Frank gets huffy, storms out on CNBC

    Barney Frank, the chairman of the House Financial Services Committee and a vocal critic of Wall Street, appeared on CNBC this morning to talk about what should be done to limit executive compensation. After tossing a hissy, he storms out in a snit when they continue to hold his feet to the fire. What a drama queen;

    From Politico.

    I think Barney is realizing how hard it is to be in the majority again and actually has to have a plan instead of just mouthing pretty words for the camera. How many other news outlets will be struck from his list of potential interviews?H

  • HuffPo diarist for concealed carry?

    Christopher Barron, chairman of the board of GOProud, an organization representing gay conservatives, writes at Huffington Post encouraging concealed carry permits so that gays can protect themselves.

    This summer, the Senate will consider the Matthew Shepard Local Law Enforcement Enhancement Hate Crimes Prevention Act, more commonly know as Hate Crimes legislation. Unfortunately, the bill, as currently written, will do little to actually prevent violent hate crimes from occurring. There is, however, a way to stop hate crimes before they happen: help law-abiding Americans at risk of hate crimes defend themselves from predators.

    While GOProud, the only national gay conservative group, doesn’t take a position on the current hate crimes legislation, we do strongly support empowering individuals to protect themselves – which is why GOProud urges the Senate to amend the current hate crimes legislation to include a provision dealing with concealed carry reciprocity.

    Before I start in, let me make clear my position of gay gun ownership – I don’t care. Anyone with a clean police record and a clean bill of health should be able to own a gun if they want, irrespective of their sexual proclivities, race, religion, or any other clumsily-assembled group of victims anyone can configure.

    However, the Left doesn’t see it that way. They’re apparently all ready to give gays guns to protect themselves from “wingnuts”, but they’re afraid that some law-abiding “wingnut” will slip through the cracks and get their hands on a legally-purchased gun and get a concealed carry permit and be able to protect themselves.

    Here’s a sample of the comments illustrating that;
    huffpo-comments6-10

    Notice that? Since a concealed carry permit wouldn’t have saved Dr Tiller or the security guard at the Holocaust museum, there’s no real justification – besides, it might place more guns in the hands of “wingnuts”. I suspect that this von Brunn fellow possessed his firearm illegally since he’d been arrested for gun crimes before. i also suspect that Carlos Bledsoe, the Little Rock jihadist, bought his illegally as well (because no one has mentioned how he got it – if he’d bought it legally, it’d have been all over the news).

    I love that last line in the first comment: “It’s time we monitor the wingnuts and locked them up before they do their damage.” There’s not much chance of convincing that rocket surgeon that it’s probably unconstitutional since they seem to be convinced that only their Constitutional rights should be enforced.

    Not to mention that most of the commenters would support a cpncealed carry permit for gays, but not for us wingnuts. Try to tell them that probably violates the equal protection clause…I dare you. But they’ll quickly tell you that gay rights isn’t about “special rights.”

    Oh, and for the defenders of Janet Napolitano’s DHS report – it seems in regards to this particular commenter, at least, the report has done it’s damage even though it’s been withdrawn. It allows the Left to call us names and call for monitoring us all without repercussions. Good job, Janet.

  • IVAW’s Duncan/Strandlof on AC 360

    Last night on CNN, Anderson Cooper interviewed phony soldier, IVAW member, VoteVets TV star, Richard Strandlof/Duncan. Somehow, he thinks that the good he did for veterans should outweigh his deception.

    Doug Sterner from Home of Heroes (who has also visited here at TAH) is also in the video and he sums it up well – John Wayne Gacy did some good too as a clown, but it hardly outweighs his serial killings.

    I don’t understand why none of these supposed news outlets won’t focus on the REAL issue here – the anti-war movement attracts an inordinate number of phonies and fakes and the anti-war types think they can just make excuses and make the whole thing go away until next time another one inevitably pops up. It’s been that way for decades – and the anti-war crowd doesn’t seem interested in vetting the messenger as long as the fake message they bring is compelling.

    While I commend CNN for finally facing up to the story, they only gave Strandlof an opportunity to be a sympathetic figure by blaming his undiagnosed mental disorder and announce that he in no way profited from his deception. He may not have benefited, but he certainly cost all veterans a measure of honor and credibility.

    Thanks to all of the people who reminded me in my email this morning about the interview. Especially the IVAW refugees.

    In other phony soldier news, last night, the daughter of our fake general came by and somehow turned around her father’s fakery into something that I did. Apparently, I “dig up dirt”. She’s upset that her picture is posted “surounded [sic] by all this negativity” – never mind that she’s standing next to a Private First Class dressed as a general in the picture.

    It seems she ought to be more upset at her father for putting her in the position of defending the indefensible. She’s asked that I remove her picture, and I’ll do it, just because she asked and out of respect for her rank and her service, but not out of fear of a lawsuit. I don’t have to be sued to get me to do the right thing. Next time ask nicely, El-Tee.

    For the record, I’ve always known she’s an officer along with her brother, but I never mentioned their names or their duty stations, or their units since it was their father that’s the criminal. Her threats and demeaning language towards me won’t stop the FBI and DVA OIG investigations against her father. Nor will it stop me from busting the next phony.
