    Brent Eckert; phony SEAL

    Our partners at Military Phonies share their work on this Brent Eckert fellow who claims that he was a Navy SEAL, of course.

    He was in the Navy for about four years as an Aviation Warfare Systems Operator at Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Florida. He never attended BUD/S or any training that could be confused as SEAL Training.

    He does, however, have several convictions for possession of controlled substances and assault, so there are records that the National Personnel Records Center doesn’t have in their archives. There’s a list of those arrests at Military Phonies.

  • John Garofalo; fake SEAL on Fox News

    John Garofalo; fake SEAL on Fox News

    We’ve written about John Garofalo a few times since he was busted by Don Shipley after he appeared on Fox News talking about his glass sculpture that he was creating for the President. That report has been removed from Fox’ website, but here it is if you missed it;

    Well our partners at Military Phonies went and got his records from the National Personnel Records Center to document his claims that he was a wounded Navy SEAL who served in Vietnam. His claims go back at least three years.

    Here’s a shot of the time in 2015 when he lied to Dee Snider;

    Here are his actual records;

    He spent four years in the Navy as an Aviation Boatswain’s Mate, leaving as an E-4. No SEAL training, no Purple Hearts, no service in Vietnam. His only overseas deployment was to Spain.

  • David Santini, phony in UK

    David Santini, phony in UK

    David Santini a 55-year-old in Lincolnshire set up collection buckets for his charity “Help for Heroes” and took up and swindled folks out of about £7,000 ($9171.47) until he was confronted by police officers who he told that he had just returned from Afghanistan and that he was taking up money to help veterans. The officers learned that Santini had been dishonorably discharged in 1983;

    “One of the officers became suspicious of the uniform he was wearing as it was part Royal Marine, and part Royal Airforce.

    “There were also suspicions from another stallholder who said Santini could not talk about his regiment.

    “He was asked for his Armed Forces identity card. At that point he said he didn’t have one and tried to say that he hadn’t said he was in the Forces, but had been in the past.”

    He was sentenced to 15 months in jail.

  • Kenneth John Boyles indicted

    Kenneth John Boyles indicted

    Three years ago, we wrote about Kenneth John Boyles when we caught him trying to convince folks in his hometown that he was a special forces combat veteran who retired from military service as a first sergeant.

    None of that was true;

    Today, we read that he was indicted for healthcare fraud that he committed against the Veterans Health Administration to the tune of $224,000 in benefits. From Connect Bridgeport;

    A Clarksburg, West Virginia, man was indicted by a federal grand jury today on charges of health care fraud, United States Attorney William J. Powell announced.

    Kenneth Boyles, age 52, was indicted on one count of “Health Care Fraud” and one count of “False Statement Related to Health Care Matter.” Boyles is accused of falsely reporting symptoms related to his service in the United States Army Reserves to the Veterans Health Administration in order to fraudulently collect more than $224,000 in benefits. The crime is alleged to have occurred from 2008 to 2017 in Harrison County.

    The VA Office of the Inspector General and the FBI investigated Mr Boyles. From his FOIA, it looks like his only active duty was for training. He served for 24 years in the Reserves and rocketed up to the rank of Specialist (E-4), but he succumbed to the siren song of the leather vest.

    Tim Clark; phony SEAL

    Our partners at Military Phonies send us their work on this robust-sized Tim Clark guy who claims he was a Navy SEAL. Here’s a picture of him on the hunt for Bin Laden;

    It must be true, because the person pictured is wearing the same patch I wore when I was teaching in Cadet Command (ROTC) – we were real badasses hunting down our nation’s enemies from college campuses across the country.

    Here are some more recent pictures of him hunting down a jelly doughnut or twelve;

    The National Personnel Records Center says “Who?”
