  • If the Civil War don’t get ’em, the financial malfeasance probably will…

    Well, lookee here, the Great Man was reporting to his masters of VFP, and things don’t look good financially for IVAW. It’s almost as if the money went up in smoke. Like, they are so poor them don’t have a pot to piss in. I hate to be blunt, but doesn’t look like it is rolling in the way it used to eh? In every garden, a few weeds will grow, isn’t that right Matthis?

    By the way, as a helpful hint, you may want to look into why none of you filed lobbying reports after you testified before Congress… Ooops, that one could be a problem if someone filed a complaint, no?

  • Leopard shows his spots

    Remember that old yarn about how IVAW loves America, believes in the Constitutional protection of free speech, how they only do this for the soldiers…..

    Well, reconcile that with this email Camilo Mejia sent to our frenemy Army Sergeant if you can.

    What you have before you, Selena, is a typical GI Resistance publication, Vietnam-era style. Many such publications were the work of civilians who were working alongside GIs, which is the case of GI Special. Tom Barton works with members of VFP, IVAW, VVAW, etc and they reprint articles from papers like the Army Times, and from web sites such as our very own.

    Your opinion of this publication is a reflection of just how out of touch you are with the organization you’re in. Have you ever checked out Vets For Freedom? They loooove the constitution, they’re flag waving patriots, and they want troops to reenlist. I bet they would have a similar opinion to yours about GI Special.

    I’m not going to waste too much on this, Selena, but I really think you should explore other organizations that would better meet your desire to be a hard core patriot. IVAW is really not that place.

    Yours truly,

    cm.

    This is the same man who can’t keep his stories straight between one appearance and his book.

    Isn’t it about time for the DoD to classify these guys as subversive?

  • IVAW’s Chiroux apologizes for occupying Afghanistan

    This is some silly shit right here. Mathis Chiroux, the IVAW’s biggest drama queen liar who once stopped at an airbase in Afghanistan for six days apologized to Afghan peace activist Malalai Joya for occupying Afghanistan;

    [I]n 2005, for a brief time, I helped occupy Malalai’s country, and it was wrong. It was my mistake. I should not have been there. I should not have been supporting this oppression of her people. Today I want to look Malalai in the eye, and I want to tell you, Malalai, how sorry I am for the violence that my Army has done to your people, to your country. I want to apologize to you for the role that I played in it. I was wrong, and I will show you that my country and the rest of the world can come to a place where they can admit wrong, apologize, and offer some sort of reconciliation.

    Six days. I once spent six days occupying a table at the Ovalo Bar in Panama on a drunk. Maybe Chiroux would like to show us on his Form 2-1 where his “occupation” was recorded by the Army;

    Or show us his campaign medal for his “occupation” in his records;

    Further down, he plants the seed for his future PTSD claims;

    I was really happy to be in Japan and Germany, but felt the U.S. had no business in either place. I was sent to other places, Italy, the Philippines, and Afghanistan, for example to write an article about how great the U.S. military is to provide medical care to Rumanian NATO soldiers wounded in Afghanistan. On these assignments, I had to carry a weapon: I don’t want to think about how many women and children it may have inadvertently been pointed at. As an Army journalist it was my job to collect and filter service member’s stories. I heard many stomach-churning testimonies of the horrors and crimes taking place in Iraq. For fear of retaliation from the military, I failed to report these crimes. Now I feel I struggle with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), in part because of deep feelings of guilt that I used my art to further what I now consider to be a racist, imperialist and ultimately genocidal campaign.

    Yeah, we don’t belong in Japan and Germany – that’s why those two countries are constantly fighting for us to stay there. And now he’s going to claim he got PTSD FROM LISTENING TO STORIES! Yeah, I got PTSD from watching The Longest Day AND reading the book. That’s more ridiculous than the clown, Zach Maddox who got PTSD from pulling guard duty on 8th and Eye Street barracks in DC protecting it from pizza delivery guys who looked like Osama bin Laden.

    In related Chiroux news, he posted a press release on his blog today in the run up to yet another hearing date for his discharge reclassification. As we’ve come to expect from this prima donna, he thinks he’s going to turn an Army Administrative hearing into a three ring circus;

    “I go now to St. Louis to honor my promises and convictions,” said Chiroux. “Obama or No-Bama, the military must cease prosecuting Soldiers of conscience, and we will demonstrate to them why.”

    Soldiers of conscience, indeed. He’s a crybaby sissy who didn’t want to have his lifestyle disrupted despite his commitment to his country. Well, the people who know him say it best;

    Chiroux’s true character emerged after his orders to deploy. Prior to this moment, he had no inclination to rant against his “illegal war.” After all, it is easy to take from the government as long as you’re not serving it. Upon his realization that time was limited, Chiroux took a trip back to Germany to visit an ex-girlfriend. This is were the story gets interesting.. He was heard stating that he would run away to either Europe, essentially Spain, or to Canada as a means of avoiding the war. This was stated by him in tears of fear, not of any sense of illegality of mission at hand.

    If I may paraphrase it, he’s a big smelly pussy who threatens women, drains their checking accounts and casts them aside. And a dork.

  • Phony General? (now with added Phony Goodness)

    Someone sent me this picture of a fellow he sees frequently around a local ROTC detachment. Our tipster says he believes the guy served in some capacity in the military but doubts his claims that he did 3 tours at SOCOM or that he’s a Major General.

    Me? I’m just enjoying the military goodness of the pictures;

    Like you are, I wondered what the glob of patches on his right shoulder are so I blew the picture up a bit;

    For those of you who might not know, the patch on your right shoulder is supposed to be one of the units that you served in during combat. He’s added a Ranger tab and a Special Forces tab – which is completely unauthorized. Anyone who has ever worn the stuff for real knows which shoulder it goes on.

    Here’s what he’s wearing over his left breast;

    Yeah, the Combat Infantry Badge is a “Group 1” badge which means it goes over the Aviator Wings, a “Group 3” badge. It’s right in the AR 670-1 as an example;

    Again, anyone who ever was awarded the CIB knows why it goes above everything else. It’s an exclusive club – one to which the three bloggers here all belong and we get reallly mad at people who wear them and haven’t earned them – ask Geof Millard. I don’t know where every single medal goes, but I know how to wear my own uniform.

    I know that a general wearing a Good Conduct Medal is rare – he could have some enlisted time (officers don’t get the GCM because officers are supposed to be good all of the time without a medal) but that’s a long way to travel from three years of enlisted time (a GCM is awarded for three years of not stepping on your junk) to a two-star general. I also noticed that his Distinguished Flying Cross is placed higher than his Silver Star and his Legion of Merit is supposed to be higher than his Bronze Star.

    You guys can pick over the medals in the comments if you want. Here’s a link to a .pdf Army Regulations 670-1 Wear and Appearance. And here’s a link to medals. Knock yourself out. I noticed a few other discrepancies – but I’m going blind look at all of this guy’s stuff.

    I remember when I taught ROTC at the University of Vermont in the late 80s, uncles and parents would show up in a lot of weird shit at graduation but this guy takes the cake.

    I forgot to ask; Is that a really flat beret on his head?

    Added: Our tipster sent along a picture of the general’s left side – I’m glad he balanced out the long tab and short tab on both sleeves;

    Is that crooked-ass tie part of a general’s uniform, too?

    Expect updated posts on this fellow.

  • Weekend Phony Soldier round-up

    Our friend, CJ Grisham, ran into what looks like another phony soldier, Ed Hart from the Alabama Geezers for Peace. He claims to be a Marine aviator from World War II, but I think he looks a little too young to have served in some of the battles he claimed to CJ. What really sets off alarm bells, though, is the way Hart reacts to discussions about CJ’s combat experience as the same reactions I got from Jim Goodnow (a Coast Guard veteran from 1959-1961 who never served in combat) and Ward Reilly (the Army Ranger who fought the Vietnam War from Augsburg, Germany).

    Here’s a sample of the email exchange I had with Ward Reilly last week;

    I would be the FIRST man out on the streets defending my home and my family, and I have more honor in my asshole than you have in your entire being.

    In the same email that he wrote the above statement about his (shiver) asshole, he demonstrates how he’s superior to me;

    The difference between me and you is that I attack policy, and you attack persons, which shows you are soarly [sic] lacking in character.

    See, he doesn’t know me, but he attacks my honor – but only in regards to policy.

    Speaking of email, Jesse MacBeth and I exchanged emails briefly, until he discovered that I was saying the same things about him on this blog that he was saying about himself in his videos. But until he severed our communications, he wrote (and I use the term “wrote” loosely) this explaining how his DD214 got forged and who was involved with it. Again this is Jesse MacBeth in his own “words”.

  • Army Captain, phony soldier

    TSO sends this article from the Virginia-Pilot about a recently-created Captain who figured his 21 years of serv ice wasn’t good enough;

    Fort Monroe’s commanding officer Col. Anthony Reyes has dismissed all charges against Capt. Jose J. Huertas, who agreed to retire as a staff sergeant, base spokesman Mike Hodson said Tuesday.

    A veteran of 21 years in the military, Huertas did not have enough time in grade to retire as an officer, said Greg McCormack, Huertas’ attorney.

    Huertas was charged in December with unauthorized wearing of multiple medals, including the 3rd Infantry Division combat patch and two Kuwait Liberation Medals. Huertas had served in the 1991 Persian Gulf War.

    Pretty damned sad. It seems that he earned many of the medals he was wearing, but he didn’t have any time in combat.

    Huertas was also charged with fraud for filing a false claim for lodging expenses, being absent without leave for five days, and repeatedly being late to work. The charge of conduct unbecoming an officer stemmed from emergency leave Huertas requested to visit a sick brother in Kentucky. He was granted the leave but did not actually go on the trip.

    [Huerta’s bonehead lawyer, Greg] McCormack contended that Huertas was the target of an overzealous boss intent on driving him out of the Army.

    Yeah, Huertas applied for emergency leave to visit a sick brother and never left his home. here’s a hint; if your boss is out to get you, don’t give him cause to put the screws to you. Ya know there are thousands of people who are in the service and haven’t gone to the war – they’re not pinning on stuff they didn’t earn. If Huertas wanted to wear that stuff, he could have volunteered to do the tough stuff those awards require instead of doing the criminal thing.

    Back in January, the Virginia-Pilot wrote that he was innocent.

    The case against an Army captain accused of wearing more than a dozen unauthorized medals hit a snag this week when the soldier’s lawyer produced military records showing he is entitled to wear most of the decorations – and two of his superiors conceded they had never checked those forms, known as DD-214s.

    “I cannot believe the Army would accuse an officer of wearing ribbons and awards he was not entitled to wear without checking his DD-214s,” Greg McCormack, the lawyer representing Jose J. Huertas, said during closing arguments in a preliminary hearing.

    Well, that was pretty stupid of the Army, too. But truth prevailed.

    I hate me some phonies.

  • MacBeth continues exposing IVAW

    Our favorite IVAW member has brought out his third and fourth videos in a series in which he claims he’ll expose IVAW for the fake organization that it is. He claims it took so long to bring out this video because he’s been in the hospital with heart problems. In case you haven’t seen them, his other two videos along with our commentary are here and here.

    As I suspected, MacBeth points to Kelly Dougherty as one of the people to help him craft his phony stories. He also fingers Amadee Braxton (a civilian liason from IVAW to other organizations with the organizational expertise to keep them afloat) as the bagman who funded his charade. Braxton keeps a low profile because of her duties.

    MacBeth claims he had another faerie tale that was more believable than the one that went public, so I guess he blames IVAW for him being exposed as a liar and fake. He also claims that the IVAW tried to keep the video out of the hands of “pro-war” bloggers because they knew that it would be debunked in about two seconds.

    MacBeth also ties in Vets for Peace and Socialist Alternative to IVAW antics, which comes as no surprise to regular readers of this blog.

    In the second video, the real stunner – he claims that his stories were all lies. Shocked? Me neither. He does defend the troops and apologizes to them (but he’s still mad at his drill sergeant – so am I still mad at my drill sergeant. One of these days, SFC Jason Hurst, one of these days….). But he continues that IVAW knew he was lying from the start and manufactured the DD214 that they used to defend him. Since the first time I wrote about him, I’ve seen a few altered DD214s from IVAW, too, so I tend to believe it. For those of you who haven’t seen his fake DD214 here it is;

    And here’s his real DD 214;

    MacBeth also claims that he’s not a pro-war plant as some members of IVAW have suggested. He admits that IVAW knew he was a fake from the beginning. Honestly, I don’t know how they couldn’t know. But here’s the second video;

    Again, I caution the reader that Jesse MacBeth is a proven liar – vitually nothing he says can be accepted at face value. That’s why This Ain’t Hell is here – to bring you the documented proof. MacBeth’s videos only serve as a starting point. He claims his book is chugging along, too. That should be a laugh riot.

    As a point of reference, here’s his original videos. A year ago, there were still people who believed him (read the comments on the second video);

    Added Sunday, 9AM: MacBeth added a third video this weekend;

  • IVAW should confront their future

    I know there are some folks at IVAW who truly believe in what they’re doing – who believe that they can make a difference. But history is not on your side. Take a look at who’ve you’ve associated yourselves with;

    MacPhearson Perry

    Odd Squad

    I snagged these photos from someone’s Flickr account.

    This is your glimpse at your future. These clowns never accomplished anything in their lives. Ward Reilly is the butt of every joke imaginable – he not only never went to Vietnam, he protested the war by going AWOL nearly a year after combat troops were withdrawn from Vietnam. Bill Perry admitted to me that his testimony at the first Winter Soldier was BS, that the only reason he told that story was to score some hairy-legged hippie chicks. His last remark to me about his actions in Vietnam was “We really kicked ass that day”.

    Mike MacPhearson is trying to make VFP a Democrat Party organization. He wouldn’t cross President Obama if his life depended on it. The same President Obama who just today announced that there’d be no withdrawal from Afghanistan. That kind of runs counter to your whole message, doesn’t it?

    What have they changed? They were successful in making everyone think that all of the veterans who returned from Vietnam were baby killers, dopers and thugs. They gave Hollywood a whole new class of villains for their idiot movies. They probably ruined more lives than PTSD did after that war. That’s your future. And they did it trying to make themselves sympathetic characters for their own selfish reasons. You know people just like them in IVAW and they’re the ones who are leading you over a cliff.

    Some of you went and did what you were ordered to do, but others, for their own selfish reasons, couldn’t summon the testicular fortitude to do the same – and they’re the same people who belittle the job you did. Chiroux calls himself an Afghanistan veteran, and then tells all of you in his secret letter that there are no heroes in this war against terrorism. Don’t you find that a bit hypocritical? Some of you did the right thing – you did your business and then protested. The cowards are protesting so they don’t have to do their business – and they’re hiding behind your service.

    Thirty years from now, you’ll be a punchline like Ward Reilly. If you really care about the troops, if you really want to help, there are so many other things you can do. If you really need help, there are more organizations than IVAW that can give you real help without making you so dependent on the camaraderie of prima donnas who’ll screw you at every turn. I know, because I’ve heard the stories from your membership. I know that it’s like Lord of the Flies sometimes. Join the world of the grown-ups and make lives for yourselves instead of being pawns and propping up the pretty-boys and the geezers who destroyed so many lives of so many others over the last few decades.

    Oh, and to Bill Perry; it was Raoul that had your SUV towed last weekend. That’s funny shit right there.
